And then Sheppard recapitulates Independence Day. Trying to fly his plane and get the darts. Losing his flying buddy. Flying a nuke into space and onto the mother ship.

Naw, that was TOTALLY Star Wars. Old School style blowing up the death star with TIE fighters everywhere.

I mentioned to the other guy that it was really anticlimactic and not at all like a series ender (he didn't watch it because he's only halfway through S3), and he pointed out that they probably did that "And they lived ever after" ending because they know it'll be back in movies.
