How do treats work? Do you have to have signed up to write one? Is there a central location for letters/prompts or do you need to surf for them? [found] How do you then post - does it go into Yuletide Madness on Dec 23/24?

I see that you've found the letters post, but they usually also make all prompts public at some point. So if anyone didn't link their letter there, you can still see their requests.

No, you don't have to be signed up to write one. Whenever the fic is finished, you can post it; just make certain that you post it to the Yuletide collection. (A lot of people tend to wait until after the first deadline, though, before posting treats. That way, if the assigned writer for the person you're treating defaults, they'll still go to pinch hit and potentially get multiple fics. Otherwise, your treat could end up becoming their main fic if the assigned writer defaults.)

If it's 1000 words or longer, then you post it to the main collection. The Madness collection is for fics that are less than 1000 words.
