Wilson
Last week, I was ready to quit House. Again.
After tonight, I can stop anytime knowing I've seen my perfect episode on screen.
I've been waiting five years for that.

I just. With my hands clasped over my grin.

no_detective's prediction was right: It was The Zeppo with Wilson instead of Xander. Group showers and gurney-pushing Chase instead of Faith and birthday cakes. Excellent.
He has a staff. And an assistant. And had a friend. And wore a patient gown. And really is that close to his patients. (So awesome to confirm that he wasn't so out of character in A Helping Hand.) And truly has a guilt/perfectionism complex the size of House's ego.
Most of the time, I find myself seeing the slashability of two characters rather than believing they really are attracted to each other or sleeping together or what have you. This episode has one of the top ... two? ... moments on this show where I could believe it. "Apparently that's what I'm attracted to." It's hard to interpret that another way.
But besides that? The soul-deep friendship that was the foundation of this show came back tonight. They fought. House admitted he needs him -- that he and Cuddy are all he has -- that now that Cuddy has her own family, Wilson is everything to him. Wilson realized House isn't just a selfish jerk. At least not all the time. Or at least not only. They supported each other.
And the show didn't ruin it. Not even with the questionable medicine (For instance, who can push a wheelchair around so soon after having a liver operation? Ow.) and unnecessary culture jab at the motorcycle accident victim's sister.

I'll admit that I was dreading this episode as much as -- if not more than -- I was looking forward to it. There were so many ways I could foresee it All Going Wrong, and instead it all went right.

But I found that I didn't mind.
At all.
WILSON ON MY SCREEN FOR AN HOUR. WILSON IN SCENES THAT DID NOT HAVE HOUSE IN THEM.

The final scene of them buying the condo made me smile. The series could end there, as far as I'm concerned. :D

Well, no. It could still be better. "Son of Coma Guy" was better (IMO). But this was good, and much more enjoyable to me than something like "Wilson's Heart."
When David Foster's on, he's on.

Though, I was pretty pissed that he decided the revenge he needed was screwing up Cuddy's house plans. That was perfectly House, but I didn't like it coming from Wilson. It's not like she'd made any promises to House that she broke, so...

You know, I'm actually glad that the ep wasn't very much like The Zeppo - in terms of not serving to validate a supporting character as BtVS did in that ep, but revealing the parallel story of the character's life with its own complexities and issues (OH ISSUES) and even narrative flow. That was beautiful.
And so was that apartment at the end. ♥
