Topic 1: Favorite vid you've ever made

[livejournal.com profile] kassrachel asked: What's your favorite vid you've ever made, and why?

My favorite, I think, is Soccer Practice (SGA, John/Ronon). Despite the rough bits like breaking out of the cell and Rodney on the floor, which mostly occurred because I was too lazy to clip more, it still makes me laugh.

(However, my favorite funny moment from a vid would have to be the opening sequence of A Girl Like You. John's face, and the timing of Larrin's punch.)

Runners-up for funny vids would be They Want More (Jurassic Park trilogy) because match made in heaven and the Humping Robot vid (Robot Chicken) because humping robot, and for sentimental vids would be Home (Big Eden) and Recalled to Life (The Secret Garden), both of which I'll play when I want some heartstrings tugged.

My best-edited vid I think is Long Night's Journey Into Day (28 Days Later). There is too much (albeit unavoidable) talkyface in the beginning, but I'm really proud of the variation in clip length throughout the vid, the speed of the zombie attack sequences, the relaxation into the road trip, the anticipation as the blood drop falls, the intentional slight delay of visuals to the piano chords when Jim wakes up and hasn't quite settled back into normal life. Even the jarring few clips when they arrive at the military compound, which I was never able to figure out how to fix, don't negate the rest.

And, I mean, of course I'm really proud of Starships! and what has happened with it. It's possible I would have called it my favorite if it were less popular, because it was a from-the-heart project and I did really love it when I finished making it; it's just hard to tell now because it's so entwined with people's reactions to it.

I love "Home," omg. Right now there's some company using that song as background music for a commercial, and every time I hear even a few bars of it, I beam because it makes me think of that vid and Henry and Pike and home and ♥ ♥ ♥

After most of a year I'm able to hear that song on the radio or a TV commercial or in a store and feel fuzzies instead of wanting to run away, hee.

Yay, now I'm going to have to go and rewatch a bunch of these! Home is really sweet; it's a great encapsulation of Big Eden.

Thanks! The song definitely fit the source, and I'm glad the combination expressed the warmth of the source as hoped.
