Missed opportunity
Oh, one more thing I wish had been true about Star Trek: Beyond:
When Krall/Edison monologued about unity and showed off the techno-insectoid drone things he’d found on the remote planet, I wondered if we were seeing the birth of the Borg. It would have been a thematic parallel to how in Prometheus we witnessed the birth of the Aliens, since the movie already borrowed a couple of visuals from that series. Alas, Edison was arguing the wrong side of the philosophical divide on conformity vs. conflict. Still, how neat would it have been if the Borg, one of the only civilizations to nearly take down the Federation, had been created by a damaged Starfleet officer?

(I haven't seen the movie, but I've decided that I might as well read spoilers since I won't be able to see it until they release it for streaming video--I get migraines in movie theaters often enough that I've given up on watching movies that way.)

(That's unfortunate about moviegoing, but probably less stressful that you've gone the route of spoilers & engagement rather than having to avoid the internet for X number of months, heh.)

(Yeah--avoiding the internet for a few weeks is one thing, but for, uh, the better part of a year? Not happening. ^_^)
