Did I seriously just see a Volvo commercial using Twilight clips?

I did. WhatDrivesEdward.com.

Good God. And there were New Moon Halloween chocolates in the discount bin at the supermarket.

...There were also Harry Potter action figures, and the old Lestat-on-Broadway website had the same cheesy music, so I guess my fandoms aren't ones to talk.

Hee, I saw that commercial a few days ago and was all "what the HELL?" It was weird, like seeing some strange fanfic mutant on TV.

I don't think I've ever seen vampires used to sell cars before. Sunglasses, yes, but that has irony.

That is quite amusing, because I doubt that Twilight's target audience will run out and buy Volvos.

At least I'm not going to.

(Truth time: I find Edward very, very tedious (and most of the other characters too), but I kinda have a crush on his vampire!dad).

(Me too! I only know him from the movie, though. But he was all angsty and kinda gay! Reminded me a little of Anne Rice's Marius.)

LOL! He was, rather. The makeup artist did him no favours in the movie. I felt quite sorry for him.

He is much better in the books. The movie didn't mention his (rather important!) backstory (he appears to be the only vampire who has never killed a human, ever) and his quiet power over all the rest.

Neat. In the unlikely event that I one day borrow these books from the library, I'll have that to look forward to. :)

I am glad that I borrowed them from the library -- but reading them is time I will never get back. They get worse and worse and worse, sadly (although the dad made the first one mildly interesting for me). SAVE YOURSELF!

He's...a stalker...?

I feel like I'm missing something basic here, but then, it is three in the morning.

Tonight I saw a commercial for the search engine Bing that used vampires. It was really awful.

"What the HELL?" is exactly what I said when I saw it. It did indeed make my brain twitch, and yeah -- it was like watching some bizarre thing put together by a fangirl.

Oh, right, and there is that one! They show it during The Vampire Diaries. It's so mediocre I forgot about it entirely.

WAIT. You mean I was expected to read and comprehend the text of the post? THAT IS ASKING TOO MUCH, OKAY.

Ahem. I mean. Thank you for the clarification. *grin*

I still like the idea I had of the House chocolate. I saw Wicked chocolate at See's.

Cameron=white chocolate and caramel
Foreman=bittersweet
Amber=bitter
Chase=milk chocolate w/ cherry filling (cherry candy tends to be unusually popular w/ Aussies)
Kutner=milk chocolate w/ coconut filling (coconut gets used a lot in Indian desserts)
13=diet chocolate

Why do your recent posts seem to be descending into the surreal? I love it, lol.

So vampires have broken into advertising now. Scary. Volvos obviously have tinted windows so no-one can see you sparkle. And they're good for impromptu road trips as well!

I think Wilson should be plain milk chocolate on the outside, but have a sharp crystallised ginger interior. And I'm not just saying that because it would make him awfully tasty ;D

wow. I'm so glad *that* volvo is no longer owned by *my* volvo group corporation. how embarrassing.

either the advertisers know something about Twilight's audience that we don't, or they've completely missed the fact that their audience is somewhat narrow and not appropriate for the car buying community.

Heh. Is there a joke to be made there on the amber coloring as well?

re: vampires, did you ever see this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASrnHSNwqMw)? It's awesome. Because it makes sense.

Yeah, see, selling cars with a tie-in to Transformers made sense, because all the fanboys who loved the cartoon are now making money. I don't really see Twilight fans nagging their parents to go buy a Volvo. Or buy them a Volvo, whichever.
