Yes! There were so many ways the writers could have deflated Chris Pratt's expectations of what would happen after he woke her up... and then... nope.

>>I just…you had a good movie! And then you turned it into a ripoff of everything else!

Sigh. After the initial disappointment over the plot trajectory telegraphed in the movie trailer, I found some consolation in how at least they started with some interesting standard operating procedure stuff. Unlike, say, Prometheus, which similarly devolved into chaos but was founded on a nonsensical premise.

>>I felt like I could see that 28 Weeks Later style ending from the space station

Like -- the thing is clearly intelligent! Why do you think it can't hold a joystick?!

>>The saving grace for me, honestly, was Ryan Reynolds

Yes! I liked him and Ariyon Bakare best. Not enough fun/awed/rational scientist characters in action movies. Well, rational until he wasn't anymore. He did fall far.

Anyway, I haven't seen Ryan Reynolds in much besides Deadpool, so it was cool to appreciate his skill in playing a more serious character. Even though, as you say, he was still snarky and providing some comic relief. Brought some real pathos to the role.

>>there are at least 3,208 entertainments out there called Life, so you kind of shot yourself in the foot there, dudes

Actually, good point - I've added the year next to the title in the post. :)

Anyway, I went and rewatched "Havoc in Heaven" afterwards and felt better. <3
