Packaging: D – Ugly color scheme, flimsy components, strange photo of Hugh Laurie; difficulty reading text on back fold, difficulty extracting discs without fear of snapping or scratching.

Bloopers: B – Uneven pacing, many clips too short, ineffective music. Still – five minutes' worth! Also, roller-shoes kid falling down = gold.

HL/RSL Bloopers: A+ – (a) There are some, (b) they are lengthy, (c) they are adorable, (d) they are slashy.

Misc. Notes: Jesse Spencer has a cute smile, Lisa Edelstein needs to not laugh so obnoxiously, and Omar Epps seems always to turn into a silly monster when he messes up lines. More HL tomato-squishing is needed. More of RSL's filthy language, too. And mutual giggling. Ya.

That is all.

W, where is this RSL dirty talk?

And how about a "C" for content, for being the weakest season so far? XD

Have you gotten around to hearing the dvd commentary (I think only for "Half-Wit")? I was curious as to how good that'd be.

Hee -- can't judge the DVDs on the season content, can you? Doesn't seem fair.

Bad words = blooper reel. D'you want to know what he says, or will you be able to see it yourself?

Haven't listened to any commentaries or re-watched any eps yet -- just got home from work, watched the bloopers, and came up here to read for a while. I'm looking forward to that commentary, though, for "Half-Wit" and "The Jerk" too. And the Props Department feature, though who knows how that'll turn out, given the DVD team's poor record for special features quality.

What did RSL say when they bleeped him out (foosball scene)? Before he said it looked like they were masturbating.

I, I think you should judge the dvds on season content? Because that's the only reason I'd buy them. I wouldn't buy them just for the extras (unless they were the world's bestest extras, like, better than the LotR ones).

Oh, okay, then, I'll wait until I can watch the bloopers for myself. Can't wait! :3

(Commentary on The Jerk, of all episodes? How random!)

The way I was thinking, report-card-wise, was that the episodes had already been produced and aired before the DVDs came out (and I'd watched them), so what was left to judge was all the rest: packaging and extras.

I'm sure it'll be up on YouTube by the weekend in all its HL/RSL glory. :)

I seriously have no idea. (I could be Walter Matthau...) I've listened to it a bunch of times and can't make it out. But then again, I'm terrible with interpreting muffled speech in general (and song lyrics), so I am not the best person to ask. *looks around* Help?

I thought he was saying the shot was too narrow but now I'm not sure. That whole scene was so funny I didn't much of it over my laughing. :)

(For instance, I may have at first thought that HL asked, "Is that hot?" and RSL replied, "Is what hot?" instead of "odd" in the bathroom scene.)

One of my particular favorites was the fumbling for the non-existent pocket.

RSL kept trying, and when he finally gave up and said "What do you do when you don't own the clothes?" (or something along those lines) it was just such a wonderful moment of bemusement.

Yes, that one was fun! And fodder for an extended H/W audio manip if anyone ever does one, along with the masturbation line. I wonder if that fumbling meant that RSL's own coat has an inner pocket right there, or if something else in Wilson's wardrobe does.

My favorite, I think, was the "Robert, for God's sake" and the perfectly timed click in the car.

*grins*

I'm betting the coat RSL was wearing (and it was a nice coat, by the way) did have an inner pocket there but the costuming guys had sewn it shut so that it would hang more evenly or some other cockamamie reason.

Also loved Lisa Edelstein's little "doctor/actor" explication. And I'll say it again -- if I didn't know Hugh Laurie was a Brit, I'd swear under oath he was 100% American, born and raised.

Same here! When I first started watching the show, I knew I knew him from something, but couldn't for the life of me figure out why. When I looked up his name, I couldn't believe it. Not the guy from Blackadder, all 100% English and a ludicrous comic to boot! said I. Indeed.

... but the costuming guys had sewn it shut so that it would hang more evenly

Ah, logic.

lol Omg, I just watched the bloopers up on YouTube (someone already put them up!!) and they are sooo awesome. Better than last season's, I think. The RSL/HL ones were fantastic. Ahaha, "Is this odd?" "What? Is what odd?" "The staring? Is it odd?" "No, I could go the whole scene like this." "...*stares*..." "..."

And Hugh's gigglefit after RSL says it looks like they're masturbating instead of playing foosball. lol His voice goes so high. "OK, yourself!"

I think that's the first time I've heard a grown man laugh wholeheartedly with what can only be written as "hee hee hee."

Better than last season's on all RSL fronts, definitely, though there wasn't anything to match the HL/JS "The Mistake" schticks ("Antipodean bit of bum-fluff"!).
