bironic: Neil Perry gazing out a window at night (Joe Flanigan blurry-moody)
[personal profile] bironic
I just wanted to say that while it has taken me a year to begin to find Joe Flanigan attractive and I still don't think he's as hot as most fans and fellow characters say he is, his hands look very, very nice when he is touching a woman. Oh yes. It's like his fingers suddenly elongate—er, not in a freakish way—and his wrists ... are deliciously wristy.

This conclusion is brought to you by a clip from Dawson's Creek (near the end, at about 5:30 and 6:12) I watched Monday night. Corroborated by, among other things, this screen shot from "The Return, Part One" (minus the woman, plus a fork and bracelet):

Second, go watch [livejournal.com profile] thingswithwings's new BDSM sub!Sheppard fanvid, a lieutenant colonel is being beaten. It's an illustration of a sexual preference based on all the times John has ended up on his knees, tied up, gagged, assaulted, collared, arching on the floor—angry, dazed, daring, smirking, zoned out—dominated by Kolya, Larrin, Ronon, Teyla, Sumner, Everett, Todd, Chaya, Teer, a bunch of baddies, the Replicators, the guys from "The Condemned," and himself—set to Iggy Pop. It's just wonderful, as everything out of [livejournal.com profile] thingswithwings is. As [livejournal.com profile] fiercelydreamed said in her rec, it lifts subtext into text. And it does it by removing context; standing alone, some of those shots do look truly, inarguably orgasmic. Plus there's the rising Atlantis in all its phallic glory. Yes, that is the word for this: GLORIOUS.

The only thing I miss is my favorite Sheppard shot, where the Wraith tears his tac vest open in "The Siege, Part I" (or was it Part II?). Unless I missed it. Guess I'll have to watch it again. Oh, darn.

Now, if someone would just make the entire-Atlantis-cast BDSM video that I've been hoping for since I started watching the show, because it's ridiculous how many times the characters have been tied up and caught in other compromising situations.

I haven't seen the SGA season finale yet. I hope the mood strikes me before the spoilers do. (Everyone's been great about it on the comms so far; I still don't know a thing other than what I saw in the preview and have guessed based on the title.)

I miss House. :(

Hee, I see everybody drooling over John and Rodney and while I get it, it's never been visceral for me. I can definitely see the appeal of those wrists, though, and especially all the tying-up!

Anyone looks better tied up, right? :)

I got in to SGA through the fanfic, and I remember seeing a cast photo for the first time and going, "That's McKay and Sheppard?" Because they were so... unhot. They've grown on me since, and they're better when you've seen them in motion, but I think it's the idea of them, the ideal of them, that's hotter than these bodies.

Just watched -- the lad makes a fine whipping boy indeed!

And he does have lovely hands!

P.S. Just as your post came up I was thinking very positive thoughts about you!

Oh, thank you. Good vibes most definitely welcome. I made a small leap in Birthright progress today, so perhaps you had an effect!

Ohh, yes. And it happens so wonderfully often. If we had SGA bingo like [livejournal.com profile] _thickasabrick had House bingo a while back, then one of the squares would definitely be "Sheppard's on his knees."

Whoa, honey. I'm now going to watch with breathless anticipation for any scene in which Shep falls to his knees. Or licks his lips after falling to his knees. *fans self* Is it hot in here or what?

Heee. You won't have to wait long. I don't have statistics (though someone should collect them; it'd be a hoot), but it's got to be one in every ... three episodes that Sheppard ends up on someone's bad side.

p.s. One of the first things I'm going to do when I watch the finale is go check out your fic. It's so cool to see you testing the SGA waters.

Bring on the spreadsheets! That would be very amusing to do. :) It's kind of in keeping with his character, though, that he gets on someone's bad side so easily. I seem to remember* from the pilot that he was considered a black sheep by the Air Force when he flew O'Neill into the Antarctic base.

(Combination of my memory being like a sieve and seeing the episodes in whatever mixed-up order TiFaux plucked them from the atmosphere makes me remembering anything a fairly terrifying prospect.)

It'd be almost as awesome as someone doing statistics (or a vid!) on House patients' most common ailments and side effects. Seizures, respiratory distress, coughing/vomiting blood, false cry of lupus, etc. It's a circus of sickness!

Definitely in-character for Sheppard to piss people off, especially those in positions of authority (over him), from his father on out. It's indeed established in the pilot that he has a black mark on his military record, which we learn a little bit about in the episode, "Phantoms." One assumes that's how he landed himself a run in Antarctica when he'd been flying special super-secret missions, but he did say once to Teyla that he liked it there because he's not good with people. An enigma, that Sheppard is.

p.s. Thingswithwings provides some stats below. "Sheppard is on his knees in twelve episodes, which makes 15% of all SGA episodes ever." Hee!

I know what you mean about the taking some time to see the appeal in both Sheppard and McKay--Unlike Ronon, who I immediately said, wow, he's hot. Heh.

Heh indeed! Ronon took me some time too, because in the beginning I dismissed him as "the hot alien muscle guy," where "hot" meant "other people think he's." :)

*snerk*

Oh, you rebel, you. :)

I'm finding myself liking Ronon more and more as a writer--now that I've finished my Rononfest story (Come to check it out, if you like! It goes live Saturday!), I've got at least one more Ronon-centric story in the wings. SGA has so much gold in cultural conflicts, but they go heavy-handed (like in 38 Minutes) or they play it for laughs (oh, those clueless aliens!).

the wraith tears his tac vest open? I think I missed that one!

ps, if you want stats . . . Sheppard is on his knees in twelve episodes, which makes 15% of all SGA episodes ever. 38 Minutes, The Lost Boys, The Hive, Progeny, Lifelines, Spoils of War, Submersion, Travelers, Doppelganger, Condemened, Common Ground, and Hot Zone. That's not counting times he's stunned and falls to the ground, etc. oh, SGA. so weird.

Ohhh, yes. It is glorious -- Sheppard in one of his best princess-in-distress moments -- lying helpless on his back, shirt torn open, head lolling to the side.... It's when he and his soldiers are searching the city for the Wraith on the loose; he and his companions get stunned, and then the Wraith goes straight for him. Next time I watch it, I'll get you the exact time.
