Oh, language.
Apr. 4th, 2008 12:56 pmGreek avgolemono soup is one of the greatest foods humankind has ever invented.
Having devoured a cup of it for lunch (depressingly smaller than the bowl I’d ordered), I looked around for recipes to see if it was worth the effort to make some myself. Then laughed when this sentence appeared in the middle of one:
“You can very gently simmer the soup a little but do not boil it or scrambled eggs happens.”

Date: Apr. 5th, 2008 01:01 am (UTC)Egg and... lemon? Really? I'll take your word for it *g*. It vaguely reminds me of egg flower soup, except that there I think the eggs are 'curdled' whereas here they seem 'not-quite-cooked'.

Date: Apr. 5th, 2008 01:54 am (UTC)It's like a thick lemon soup with rice (and is delicious!). I didn't know there was egg in it the first few times I had it. I guess it is the thickening agent.
ETA: Oh, you know what it was? The way I posted, all the quotation marks were smart quotes, so the code didn't recognize that the link was there. Fixed now.
