Just another Monday morning.
May. 5th, 2008 09:50 amI just cost myself $50 by writing down the wrong deadline for my phone rebate and waiting till the last possible minute to mail it in. It had to be postmarked Saturday, not today. And I was at the post office on Saturday. *facepalm*, *facepalm*, *facepalm*.
Then I sat down to finally read Nature, only to learn that I can't access any of this month's articles, editorials, etc. without a $200 subscription. Um, no. Will have to do it the old-fashioned way and go to the library.
These after having a discomfiting, vivid dream this morning about a museum exhibit like Bodies except instead of the body parts being preserved, everything was naturally decomposing in their glass cases, so that each week the exhibit was open, you could watch the anatomical displays grow more and more decayed. The carpet was soaked with blood, too, heavier as you made your way through the room, and it was so saturated at the end that the fabric rippled and squished as you walked on it. Signs at the front door warned visitors not to wear shoes inside but to change into slippers so their footwear wouldn't get stained red. The whole room smelled of putrefaction, worse towards the far end, where the blood had gone moldy and thick. People were wearing face masks as they walked and looked at the displays, but it didn't stop some of them from stepping outside to vomit. Some of them looked disgusted and ill, while others were fascinated. There was one little girl playing with her face mask; her mother had to show her how to hold it over her nose as well as her mouth.
I was standing to one side where the carpet was clean and the smell less overwhelming, debating whether to go in and look. I wanted to, but I didn't know if I would be sick.
There were restrooms after the exhibit where people could wash up, throw up and/or change back into their shoes.
When I woke up, I could still smell it.
...Still, I'm not actually in a bad mood. Just sleepy and sneezy, like the Dwarves. Going to find something else to read today, and maybe whip up a quick fic/vid recs list, and hopefully remember to watch House later.

Date: May. 5th, 2008 02:52 pm (UTC)Night before last, there were scorpions in my dream. Like, lobster-sized scorpions, and this guy was playing with one and had removed the tail exoskeleton/stinger so he couldn't be hurt.
