bironic: Neil Perry gazing out a window at night (Default)

For various reasons, I am not suffering from the post-vacation blues. Yet I feel the need to compile this list.

Things I am looking forward to in the near future:

  • Meeting a new LJ person tomorrow! (I would be more specific about who, only I don't know if it is a public-knowledge sort of thing.) Er, that is assuming my phone does not freak out and keep disconnecting like it did last night when I tried to call her.

  • Fangirl brunch & Dark Knight on Sunday.

  • Organizing and posting Israel photos/recap, whenever I get over this limp-and-useless-in-the-evenings post-trip phase.

  • SGA season 4 DVDs. I completely forgot they came out while I was away. Maybe will pick them up this weekend. What will it be like, I wonder, to watch "Doppelganger" without Sci Fi's bizarre speeding up/slowing down digital broadcast errors?

  • My birthday in a week and a half. No plans yet, but it's something on the calendar at any rate. There may be sushi. Also there may be presents. (I have been debating whether to ask various family members for the original Star Trek on DVD or hotel/airfare assistance to go see [livejournal.com profile] synn if the logistics work out, or something else, since I'm not accustomed to requesting anything expensive. Hm. Maybe ladyjaida & danibennett's Havemercy; anyone read that yet?)

  • Fireworks at a local fair tonight, and hopefully finishing Mary Roach's Stiff (funny, quirky and informative; recommended) while we wait for them to start.

Things I am not looking forward to:

  • Two dentist appointments in the next two weeks, in which I will be stuck with much local anesthetic and thoroughly de-plaqued.

Things I am intensely ambivalent about:

  • Delivering some news at work on Monday. Details TBA.

How about you?

Title quote, btw, from Tim Gunn in the preview for next week's Project Runway, commenting on one designer's pink something-or-other.

I love meeting people! I've met quite a few of my flist now, and two are visiting these shores in the next few months - it's so exciting! That's a good list of things to look forward to. SGA S3 is still really expensive over here, so I'm nowhere near caught up yet, but that reminds me that I must check the prices again...

Ugh for the dentist, and I hope work goes okay on Monday. Will keep things crossed for you.

Thanks! I think it will be fine, but it is still nervous-making.

This seems to be a popular season for meeting LJ friends in the flesh. Isn't it grand?

Looking forward to: after today I have no more appointments for six working days. SO MUCH WIN.
Research material from Amazon comes in tomorrow
We have a new robotic cat box that scoops up everything and all we do is change the cartridge every two weeks. OMG AWESOME.
The kid is at school in the mornings.
Fixed my pain meds problem from the looks of it.

Intensely ambivalent about:
Podiatrist appointment this afternoon.

Not looking forward to:
The kidlet being home all of August.

Ew, kids. :) Robotic litterbox sounds amazing, though, as do the rest of the items on your Yay List.

Good luck this afternoon....

Bironic and her amazing multi-tasking powers are back!

I'm not going to get much done today because I stayed up all night -- or at least, until 5 am -- watching Miss Marple mysteries and knitting. I had to know whodunnit! And, it was a stormy/thundery night and there was also tea.

Ooh, sounds marple-ous. *envy* I had a dream last night that it was a rainy evening and all I had to do was order room service and read. :)

I'll have you know that another of my LJ friends used the same subject line for her post about PR.

Because it is one of Tim Gunn's most quotable quotes ever, non?

Oui. Up there with "I can't tell you how many bad decisions I've made at 3 in the morning"

I'm looking forward to receiving some books I ordered -- first one might be here late tomorrow, if Amazon has its stuff together. Not looking forward to seeing the dentist this afternoon because I think the molar that has vexed me for years is finally at "must be crowned" stage.

Mm, not very fun. Well, at least it would be the end of the vexing. (Is it terribly vexed?) And you'd have books to enjoy while you recovered.

Yea for Tim Gunn! I have a totally inappropriate crush on the man. :) The new season looks fun, plenty of weridos.

\o/ for love of Tim Gunn.

Sadly, I am confused by the number of twin-like contestants -- two young women with brown bangs, two hoodie guys, two punk/goth chicks, etc. But I guess in subsequent weeks they'll be eliminated and/or become more differentiable.

Yay for LJ people and a fangirl brunch! I cannot wait to read Havemercy when it comes out. Meanwhile, I've already read a few chapters of Temeriere and am really liking it so far. And I saw the 48-hour-film thing tonight! And... that's it. I will have to take a short break from... everything to study for my first test which is on Sunday... we'll see how that goes.

How was the 48-hr film? Are you nominated for an Emmy?

Isn't Temeraire sweet? It's so gently loving and subtextually slashy, you almost forget it would be bestiality. I think the first book is a lot of people's favorite. Now that the new one's out, I'll have to finish the fourth and then see how I like it.

Anyway, studying! Best of luck.

OMG I didn't realize that the SGA DVDS were out either. I can watch all those eps I didn't see due to getting into the series mid-season last year! ^_^

Have I mentioned that it is really cool you're getting into the fandom too?
