OH MY GOD, SGA, RIP MY HEART OUT WHY DON'T YOU.

I never thought I'd watch this fic on screen (or Flowers for Algernon on SGA). I'm not sure I'd have wanted to. But here it is, sort of, watching someone's friend spiral down like this, watching him watch himself spiral down, and ... *sniff*

And those scenes with John? Oh my God. My heart.

Oh my god. Rodney panics, and he looks for John. John swallowing because he wants to cry. So much. SO much.

I normally can't handle stories like this (Phenomenon, Flowers for Algernon, etc) but David Hewlett was so amazing. I think I forgot to blink some of the time. I know I forgot to breathe.

(and you know there's going to be a flood of "missing scene" fics set after the pier)

I thought Rodney asking for John on tape at the beginning would be it, but then, but then, Rodney running to John's after a nightmare, pounding on his door, and John gripping his arms trying to calm him down when he wants to freak out too, and being in total denial because it hurts too much, omg omg omg.

(Though in the midst of everything I could not help but be charmed by Sheppard's t-shirt.)

This may be the best episode SGA has ever done.

I admit to giggling at the shirt. It was unexpected and yet somehow, very Sheppard.

I wonder if it was one of Joe Flanigan's own tee shirts. He looked really adorable in it. The flannel/plaid button-down he brought out to the balcony definitely looked like what he wears at fan cons.

Wardrobe probably said "Oh, god. Joe. You're hairy like an ape. Uh. I mean... Sheppard has to sleep in a shirt because it'd be faster for getting dressed in an emergency!"

And he said "*sigh* Fine. I'll just keep this on."

My first-ever lengthy review about SGA (http://theninth.livejournal.com/341796.html).

JENNIFER IS TOTALLY HIS GIRLFRIEND.

Also, obvious attempt to humanize Woolsey is obvious.

And I also thoguht of 'Theory of Everything' when I saw this episode. OMG THEY'RE READING OUR FANFIC!! Can the McShep be far behind?

And John doesn't like it one bit.

Definitely. I mean, it was bad enough when Rodney was all over Carson, but really, this is going too far. John's starting to wonder if he has to get an MD before Rodney will notice him.

I wouldn't mind Jennifer being Rodney's girlfriend but am highly annoyed they jumped to it so quickly. What would've been wrong with a "I've been interested in you" or even a nice, arrogant "You wouldn't make a bad girlfriend for me"?

Very good ep.

agreed that the L word was totally rushed, but I'm trying to rationalize it as being a side effect of the disease. children tell people they love them willy-nilly, so Rodney might have meant only that he was fond of her, but that fondness came out differently at the moment.

I just, for some reason, tend to like any female character that is attracted to Rodney, since there aren't nearly enough of them. And of course I have no expectation of McShep on the show (they'd only screw it up anyway) so I have no problem with Rodney having a relationship with Keller, as she is adorable and awesome.

Wasn't very far from tonight's episode, was it? Wow. I mean, still in a way that anyone can interpret what happened as relationshippy or friendshippy, but wow. That was some serious intimacy and love and trust and pain going on.

It's too bad the Rodney/Jennifer is so forced and off-screen/told not shown. I'd buy Ronon/Jennifer way more easily, even after the brush-off they've been giving them after "Quarantine."

ITA with the Woolsey thing, but I liked that they brought up Alzheimer's.

You know, now that you've said this, I do agree, but it wasn't something that bothered me before. I guess I watch the show focusing only on the OT4 relationship, so when they say 'Oh, and Rodney and Keller are really close now. You hadn't noticed? Oh, well, they are.' I shrug and accept it.

Plus, I have a terribly prejudice for believing that all characters should be attracted to McKay and his awesomeness. How could they NOT be??

You have a point there! That's why I liked Katie Brown too.

Was it my imagination, or did Rodney call for John every time he got scared?

And Rodney remembering his mother ...

Oh my God. Just an amazing job of acting. Wow.

He did. He totally did. And John was always there for him. As was Rodney's whole team. MY HEART.

Loved the (surely unintentional) House parallel -- "we're going to wake you up so everyone can say goodbye to you." Heh. I hated that scene in "Wilson's Heart," and thought it was handled much more realistically here.

And am I thinking of Mary Stewart novels, or was there a riff in the Arthurian story about Merlin and a waterfall? Does that sound familiar at all?

Um... can't remember; it's been ages since I read T.H. White. Maybe someone else will know? *looks around hopefully*

And yes, I love how the melodramatic sci fi show does a lot of things better than our beloved "reality"-based drama.

I will need TIME to recover from this. Just... yes.

(Btw, do I owe you some gay porn?)

(I don't know, but who could turn down an offer like that?)

Yes. Yes. And when you recover, if you write anything reaction-wise, I will be all over it.
