I find myself mysteriously with nothing to say. That will surely change soon, but as long as I'm putting off writing my first research paper of the semester, here's a snapshot for that "photograph yourself right now" meme that's going around. Uh, warning for a close-up picture of an eye?

This was taken yesterday afternoon, sans glasses.

(Identification concerns aside, this is the only part of me I think of as conventionally pretty. Talk about constructing one's self online; you get to choose your best feature to show to people.)

Now I will use my eyes to read these articles and get workin'. Honest.

Your eye looks kind, mysterious, and intelligent (which I know matches the rest of you!)

The gold flecks are particularly cool :D

And sort of reminds me of Vermeer's The Girl With The Pearl Earring for some reason -- I think it's the calmness of your expression.

Hey, I know that eye! :-)

So how do you categorize your eye color? I also have that little yellow ring - kinda spongey and creepy - and I never know what to call it.

Oh! Thank you. It's actually funny that you say "calm," since at the time I was repeating to myself, Don't squint into the light, don't blink when you click the shutter.

I say blue. They were a lot bluer when I was a kid, but they're still more that than anything else. Except when I wear this one particular sage-green-ish shirt, and suddenly they look green. Wacky.

I also have that little yellow ring - kinda spongey and creepy - and I never know what to call it.

There must be a name for it. Sadly, I am too lazy to go look it up right now. Do you think it's creepy? Someone -- either my boyfriend at the time or my sister, and I'm not even thinking about what it means that I can't remember which -- once said it was like an eclipse, and ever since then I've been proud of them. :)

No, I think it's pretty cool, but it's creepy when you look at it up close. Because when you look at it from really really close, it really does look like a yellow sponge that shrinks and expands like it's breathing. Like... one of those sea creatures.

I think it might be what's sometimes referred to as hazel eyes - I think 'hazel eyes' have a lot of different meanings, not just the golden-brown I've always imagined them as.

Eye to eye : )

They look indigo to me. My eyes do that same blue/green thing, and I think it's because when you wear green, it brings out the yellow of that inner ring, and our eyes tend to mix colors so.. yellow and blue make green.
