My family was at the county fair for the day. As we were sitting down on a porch I leaned against a wood post and caught my back against a nail, hard enough to break the skin. I don't remember much about it except crying and my father taking me inside the shop or somewhere for antiseptic, probably hydrogen peroxide. And then again, a few weeks later, sitting on the couch in our living room when it was time to take the bandage off, me insisting that he pull it off as slowly as possible and him explaining that it would be better to rip it off all at once.

That's invariably what I think of whenever someone says "rip it off like a Band-Aid."

The first time someone told me they found me attractive and sweet and would like to get to know me, romantically. I didn't believe the poor guy and it took him three weeks to convince me he wasn't trying to trick me. I was fifteen.

That's sweet, and funny, and also sad, all at once. Did he turn out to be a decent guy?

Coincidentally, tonight's post is in a similar vein.

I'm awfully sorry for the lapse; you are my most faithful memory-poster and deserve more comments in response. I couldn't bring myself to sit in front of the computer this weekend, but promise to catch up ASAP.

He did. He was very sweet in fact and my first boyfriend, obviously. It didn't last long, which is also rather obvious, but it did do wonders for my self-esteem.

I'll go look at the post then.

And don't be sorry, it's fine really :-) I like doing these. I think I'll post the lot in one large post when the month is through.

Ah, splendid.

But every post deserves a comment or else we'd all be sitting at our LJs close to tears, wondering where everyone had gone. :)
