1. Rachel Getting Married is the only movie I can remember off the top of my head that made me cry the whole way through.

2. I cannot get over how gorgeous Anne Hathaway is. She is the realization of my adolescent Mary Sues.

3. That movie puts Racefail and SGA's gender issues to shame. To absolute shame. Three or four cultures meet at the wedding and are different and are celebrated but aren't pointed at with huge flashing lights saying LOOK WE ARE CULTURALLY DIVERSE.

4. So far so okay: slept in today after getting home at 1 a.m. from a huggy class farewell at a pub, checked that my car hadn't been stolen, went shopping for work clothes and actually found a few things, didn't get rained on, made a tasty dinner from what little I've got in the fridge, treated myself to some ice cream (malted milk ball flavor), and watched a couple of movies.

5. The Untouchables is not that good. Certainly not as good as Goodfellas, which I saw a few weeks ago, or Heat, or A Bronx Tale. Besides having the handicap of Kevin Costner in a leading role, The Untouchables lacked an irony it really needed, from the score to the closing shot. At some point I'll need to add Scarface and The Godfather to the viewing list.

I love Rachel Getting Married. Yes on #1 and #3. Anne Hathaway is gorgeous, but something about her strikes me as not sexy. Nothing against her. She's delightful and beautiful. Just not do-able. Lmao WHAT. WHAT. Like I'd kick her out of bed for eating cookies and getting crumbs everywhere? I don't think so.

*gasp* You should add The Godfather II to your list and watch it immediately after seeing the first one! Before seeing any of those other movies! Seriously, it's like you're bending space-time watching Goodfellas and Scarface before. :o)

The Godfather trilogy just takes such an investment of time, it's intimidating. Also I don't know how much Brando I can stomach at once.

If Brando is your worry, then... you shouldn't worry. He's only in the first one, and he's not in it all that much, and he mumbles, lol. I don't even think of him as Brando when I watch it because he's soooo different than he usually is.

Watch them for baby Al Pacino who is gorgeous and fascinating! :D

Oh, I do love me some Pacino. That might convince me, indeed.

Anne Hathaway epitomises every Mary Sue I ever come across. Not her herself. Her looks. She's so good looking that she's too good looking. If that makes sense?

You seen Casino? Or Magnolia? If not, I strongly recommend those two movies. I loved Goodfellas and the Godfather trilogy.

I didn't mind The Untouchables, but I don't know why Costner was cast in that film. He's an actor who seems to play himself, no matter what role he's in. He was basically the exact same person in The Untouchables as he was in JFK and Message In A Bottle.

I am sorry to say I hate Magnolia with a fiery passion, but Casino's been on my to-see list since whenever it came out. I remember seeing the poster in the movie theater. Is that Pacino too, or the guy I confuse with him? Andy Garcia. I suppose I could go look it up.

Not her herself. Her looks. She's so good looking that she's too good looking. If that makes sense?

It does, actually. She only needs some sparkles. :)

I second the rec for Casino! It's soooooo Scorsese. It's almost him lampooning himself. But it's beautiful, too. And that's De Niro, not Pacino (Andy Garcia is the one in The Untouchables--he plays Al Pacino's son in Godfather III).

Casino feels a lot like Goodfellas in sherbet-colored polyester suits. :D

Just came back from Angels and Demons. I... don't know what to say...

Uh-oh. The first one looked bad enough, and now this one has to deal with being a sequel on top of it.

I do love mysteries & art & architecture & Rome & smart people figuring out puzzles rather than shooting other people & Ewan MacGregor...

So this should have been right up my alley. And I am presenting working on a medieval translation myself. But this was oddly... odd.

Maybe the problem is that there just wasn't any slash or realism ;-)

I (reluctantly) watched The DaVinci Code because Jean Reno was in it, and I'll probably do the same for Angels and Demons because Stellan Skarsgard is in it. But I'll definitely wait until it comes out on DVD and I can rent it from Netflix.

There was much I liked about The Da Vinci Code (I <3 Leonardo and Paris!), but there were equal amounts of silliness. (Not that there is anything wrong, really, with silliness, as long as you go into it with that frame of mind!)

Speaking of which, have either of you seen the new Pride & Prejudice & Zombies? It looks highly amusing -- if, of course, a person is (again) in the mood for silliness. I am not really into zombies myself, but what the hell. I DO love P & P.
