Saw two more movies over the weekend and have the next-to-last one tonight,* all of which I will post about at some point. So far the first was the best.
Last week I realized that I was stuck on the vid I was working on not just because it'll take a lot of sittings to do, being about four minutes long, but because it's depressing and angry, and that's not the headspace I need to be in when I get home from work these days. So I switched to the happy SGA team love vid I thought of almost two years ago that's set to a silly song from Oliver!, and that has been going swimmingly. I brainstormed Wednesday evening, outlined on my lunch break on Thursday, started marking the times Thu-Fri evenings, and started clipping yesterday. Ended up making 113 clips (!) just from seasons three and four, which is already 20-something more than was in all of "Halloween." It took the whole day. But it's going to be great. I mean, it's already great, going through the episodes again and sampling favorite moments, like John and the BABY, which always kills me -- or finding new favorite moments, like John gently helping Teyla out of her infirmary bed in "Sunday."
The show actually seems good when you do that.
Vidding unfortunately has to be done between less fun tasks like going to work, doing outside-of-work work, feeding myself, sleeping, and looking for new jobs. (Vidding and sleeping in particular are unmixy things. I have yet to figure out why an evening of vidding leads to insomnia.) However, I still have Fannish Goals for the remainder of 2009:
- Finish this vid
- Finish the SGA dancing WIP for flashfic amnesty
- Finish one of two House WsIP (MRI or secret crossover)
"Find tonight's episode of House" should go on there, too, since I'll be missing it.
*ETA: Or not; the time was switched, I got a refund, I can watch House and go to bed on time. Yay!

Date: Nov. 16th, 2009 10:50 pm (UTC)I miss vidding. I don't expect I'll have the time/space to do it again for a while, but it's awfully fun.

? Maybe you get so caught up in watching/looking/seeking/paying attention that it stays with you and it's hard to unwind enough to sleep?

Date: Nov. 18th, 2009 12:11 am (UTC)2) I think you're right about the caught up/unwind thing, but it's strange that vidding does it while writing doesn't. Or maybe I just haven't hit that flow with writing in a while.
3) Have not given up on it! The first 30 seconds are done and a few snippets throughout. This just isn't the right time for it for me. Maybe after this one.
