This Saturday, In Stereo

Good God, am I glad this week is over.
One bright spot has been the headphones my sister got me for Hanukkah. I found, to my delight, that "Baltyccy Piraci" by Mordewind, which I've had and loved for a couple of years but must have only listened to on this tinny laptop speaker, sounds fantastic with stereo and bass boost. It's like a whole new song. Richard Thompson's "So Ben Mi Ca Bon Tempo" sounds great, too, although it's still a little embarrassing when he does the la la las.
So here they are for you.
And since I was putting together a zip file, I added eight more songs to round out the list. The only theme, I suppose, is that they sound excellent in these 'phones.
Coldplay – Cemeteries of London
Elitsa Todorova and Stoyan Yankoukov – Water
Janove Ottesen – Neighbour Boy (I know I've shared this before, but it's so good)
Joseph Arthur – History
Loreena McKennitt – Marco Polo
Mordewind – Baltyccy Piraci
Nickel Creek – Reasons Why
Old Blind Dogs – (name unknown)
Richard Thompson – So Ben Mi Ca Bon Tempo
Robbie Williams – The Road to Mandalay

I don't suppose anyone feels up for sharing or recommending some music in return? It's been a while since my last infusion.

Joanna Newsom? I think you would appreciate her quirky vocals. I can upload some songs if you'd like. If you haven't been listening to her for ages. ;)

Date: Jan. 9th, 2010 10:55 pm (UTC)I definitely rec listening to some orchestral stuff on your headphones. The Pirates of the Caribbean Unreleased Suites are great, as well as Angels & Demons opening (160 BPM). Also, definitely check out stuff by the Eminence Symphony Orchestra.
