bironic: Neil Perry gazing out a window at night (Default)

I, um, forgot House was on last night, but I've seen it now, so I figure it's safe to come back online.

Had a cool idea for a vid today that I want to start nowww. It's by an artist who helped define my childhood, and it's also an iconic Canadian song, which is appropriate for SGA. This would be a full vid, as opposed to the list of about six songs I want to vid a few lines of. Those I'm thinking of stringing together like channels flipping, sort of like this HouseWivz YouTube vid but without all the other stuff. First, though, I am trying to iron out problems with ripping and exporting so the vids look better when they're done.

Speaking of vids: Does anyone know of songs that might be used to tell a story about Hou--er, someone who acts like a sadist because he's secretly masochistic?

Meanwhile, Forecast One continues to say 1-5 inches, while Forecast Two says 10-20. Guess we'll see. I haven't been in the office since Thursday. I'm guessing it'll be closed tomorrow, too, and, depending on how much falls, possibly Thursday. Would be cooler if I didn't have to work from home, but the power and Internet haven't gone out (yet?), so there's that.

Hee, I have always thought this about Hou--er, someone.

*g* In addition to all the patient-abuse and emotional manipulation of his friends and colleagues, I'm thinking of scenes like the self-catheterization that could double as sounding, etc.

edited to delete the right part of that sentence

I wish we could have more of that outside perspective, too! I was unmoved in general, but said a few things in more detail here (http://topaz-eyes.livejournal.com/186368.html).

(Have just screened your comment in case someone stops in who hasn't seen the episode, since I didn't warn for discussion/spoilers above.)

Hmmmm. Must think about that song choice.

A line from Bowie's Fame comes to mind:

Is it any wonder
I'll reject you first

But other than that? I know a lot of "I'm not good enough" type songs, but can't think of anything, offhand, that goes "I'm going to hurt you because I'm not good enough and want you to hurt me back." And I think I should know a couple songs like that, but they're eluding me.

That definitely sounds like House, but yeah, I'm looking for something more along the lines of "I'll hurt you because I want you to hurt me" -- not even necessarily with the low self-confidence or desire for humiliation that's often conflated with s/m. Feel free to suggest whatever comes to mind -- it may trigger other ideas...

Hee, I wrote a fic where House hurts Wilson (the hurting done in canon) because he wants Wilson to physically hurt him, but I never found a song that would go with it.

karaokegal's probably got several, eh? :) But if you haven't thought of one in a while and you've been trying, I may bump this one to the back burner.

Hmmm ... isn't there a Pretenders song with a chorus of "I hurt you -- you hurt me?" I'm thinking it's on the Learning to Crawl album ...

ETA that here are the lyrics. May not be exactly what you're looking for, though. :-)

Oh -- the lines from the first to second chorus work, in a related way. Neat! I, uh -- I kind of hate Chrissie Hynde's voice, though, and don't know if I could stand to listen to the song as many times as needed to make a vid!

LOL! I like Chrissie Hynde, but this is actually my least favorite song on the CD. It's not an easy song to listen to (it's definitely not a happy number) or to sing along with (the longer it goes the more bombastic it gets).

Heh. I once described my Soundtrack From Hell to my mother as including Chrissie Hynde, Stevie Nicks (though I like several Fleetwood Mac songs), Meatloaf and John Mayer. They agitate me.

"Hurt" by Johnny Cash? (Though I think this song's already been used?)

...House? Is that like, a show or something?

[I haven't seen it yet; worse, I don't really care right now *g*]
