I wanted to post this for my birthday, but (a) the title sequence killed me and (b) LJ broke anyway. Let's try now.

Content notes: General spoilers for all seasons of SGA.

Vidder's notes: Finally went in and finished one of the vids I started 2 years ago and had to rebuild twice. Let's consider this an exercise in beat-cutting and POV that may or may not work: John and Rodney in the first section, team in the second, crew in the third. Soak in the love while you can—the next two gen vids in the queue are really, really not happy.

Oh, yay. It was definitely intended to be sentimental/nostalgic, and I am so glad to hear it evoked that in you. When you work and work and work on a vid for so long, it's really hard to tell whether the emotions you want to convey are coming across. (Especially when you are too impatient at the last minute to engage a proper beta. :) )

It's going to be interesting to see the contrast to one of the next SGA vids I'm trying to finish, which is the polar opposite of this one in tone and content.

Awwww, that made me smile. SGA is in some ways (and if this isn't a horribly inappropriate comment, I don't know what is) the abusive boyfriend that I finally managed to leave, but this reminded me of all the things that did make me happy about it; this was a warm, lovely nostalgia trip, and it made me grin all the way through.

Oh, I am so, so glad to hear that from you. Not the abusive relationship part :), although I think we all said "Oh, SGA, I wish I could quit you" at one point or another, but the part about it evoking a warm nostalgia, which is what I'd hoped for.

Of course, that is only one way to look at the show, and as I was saying to anatsuno above, I'm really looking forward to finishing this other SGA vid that has been a long time coming, which is about the darker and unjust aspects the show usually overlooked; the team ends up as the villain in that one. Perhaps these two vids will be a pair of sorts.

I AM GRINNING SO HARD MY FACE HURTS.

This is fantastic - from the beginning which naturally focuses on John and Rodney as the OTP (heh), to the wonderful team dynamic painted so beautifully with your selection of clips. SMILING TEYLA! SMILING RONON! <3 I have to admit, seeing aged Elizabeth always tugs a certain heartstring (thank you for that); and the ending with THE TEAM and its MANY, MANY members who fought for Atlantis - aw, memories!

...but I'm afraid I'll never be able to, uh, appreciate the scene of Carson's demise. I mean, exploding tumors - for me, even after all this time, that elicits either anger at the writers or lolz.

Re: OTP, this was half a celebration of the better parts of the show and half a celebration of the fandom, so the John/Rodney came from the latter, if that makes sense - I always have believed John/Rodney more in fic than in canon, with a couple of exceptions, as opposed to a pairing like House/Wilson, if that makes sense. Anyway! I am so glad this made you smile and that some of the flashes of supporting characters resonated. Exploding tumors I am not even going to touch either. Best part about that whole scenario was Ronon looking at Rodney incredulously and saying, "Seriously?"

Yay indeed! I've definitely had the song stuck in my head for days since I set to work finishing this. & it didn't help that there was a commercial on TV yesterday with a softly sung version advertising soap that can not only clean your dishes but also help little ducks covered in oil.

Thank you! Yep, it took me so long to make this vid that it went from "yay, team" to "celebration of the end of the series" to nostalgia/"gosh, I hope people are still watching vids in this fandom." Time runs at a different pace in fandom.
