Two Bingo squares down, three to go. Well, two and a half. The Beauty and the Beast fic is three-fifths done; I just have to finish a freelance job first. /responsibility



While surfing DS9 pix for the meta, I made a pretty Cardassian neck icon that I think I will use for Karin stories from now on. Rewatching one of the mirror universe episodes also gave me a Eureka moment and I now know how the Makor plot starts. It's a lot simpler than what had previously been tumbling around in my head. Hooray!

Less hooray: My boss told some of us yesterday that she'll be leaving at the end of next month. It was a real shock. We'll have lost a lot of upper management in a short time and only replaced one person, and it's not at all clear what the office will be like going forward. :/

But back to the hooray. This zucchini garlic soup felt like the best thing I'd ever put in my mouth when I tried it for the first time on Sunday. I used olive oil instead of butter but otherwise followed the recipe. Mmm. I don't know how, but it tastes like cream of broccoli.

And the heat wave broke Sunday night, so it has "only" been about 90 degrees. Sigh. I so did not move here for the summers.

And ooh, soup. I made a cold cucumber-yogurt soup tonight which is quite tasty. (Also a wheatberry tabouli and a salad of bitter greens, preserved lemons, feta, and chickpeas. I am pretty pleased with myself, I tell you what.)

That is impressive. (Says the person who picked up Crisp & Juicy roast chicken & yucca on the way home because cooking anything was too much effort.)

I think I am done with picspams for the next little while, but am looking forward to getting back to the fic for sure!

It was one of those "okay, I am taking the afternoon off and making salads" kind of days, and now I have a fridge full of salads. I love cold summer suppers. (And lunches. And breakfasts. :-)
