It seems I will be hosting a vid show the weekend after next, hooray. Ergo, two questions for you.

If you have put together a vid show before: Any tips? Composition-wise, I figure I'll try to have a range of fandoms and a little bit of a range of emotions (with more funny/happy-making/action-packed vids than not, since those do well in a group setting). Logistics-wise, I'll probably download all the files and put them in a playlist with a couple of seconds of black in between each.

If you have watched & enjoyed vids before: Any favorites/recommendations? I mean, I've got a bunch in mind, but I'd like to include some vids that are new to me and/or are from fandoms I'm not in (*cough Avengers and bandom*). Most of the attendees are vid-savvy, so they're/we're likely to have already seen the really well-known ones, hits from Vividcon and Festivids, etc.

Will post the final playlist that we choose!

I'll rec the hell out of [livejournal.com profile] daasgrrl's Cat's in the Cradle, which is a three-way House, Sherlock (BBC), and Fortysomething crossover. Every superlative in the book; it's the only vid I've ever watched more than two or three times on purpose. *g*

Also just about anything by [livejournal.com profile] lim, although I am especially fond of My Brilliant Idea, which is straight-up Stargate: Atlantis and is funny and sweet and heartwarming, not to mention set to a fantastic song by Jason Robert Brown called "I Could Be In Love With Someone Like You." I'd also rec her Us and This Is How It Works (both from this page), but I'm sure these folks have already seen them because they are Super Famous. :D

Edited to close parentheses. D'oh.

Ah, I would've forgotten about My Brilliant Idea! Thanks! *hums the song*

Cat's in the Cradle = a contender for sure. Also daasgrrl's old Monty Python musical vid where the patients are all dying and then House is all alone... next to Wilson.

Who's that person who did the other good House vids... verbal kint?

[livejournal.com profile] verbal_kint10. This is her page for 'vid' tags, but I have to admit I haven't watched any of them in a while so I can't remember what's what. :-)

ETA that I've also got six vids mem'd here, but other than Cat's In the Cradle, I haven't watched any of them in a while. I can watch after dinner, though, and let you know if they've stood the test of time. Heh.

Aww, this was a surprise, thank you both! I honestly would never have expected that vid to get as anywhere as much notice as it did. I'm ever-grateful for the support ♥

Post: I notice [livejournal.com profile] stephantom isn't on your f-list, but I absolutely adore her vids. I'm very literal, but she's one of the few people whose vids I really enjoy even though they're not strongly 'matched' in the literal sense. Most celebrated vids are clever and stunningly beautiful but simply beyond me.

I adore
White Blank Page (RDJ Sherlock)
The World We Loved (DPS)
Running Up That Hill (Thor)
although the aspect ratio for the last one is off. I downloaded and adjusted it manually :)

My favourite vid ever is probably "Superstar" by here's luck, but I'm guessing everyone in fandom has seen that. Probably several times.

I don't know if you're extending into other vid forms, but the fake trailers for Sherlock in Love and Shellshocked are both brilliantly done.

Thanks for thinking of my vids, anyway. I haven't been watching much now that I'm back into fic, but I'm interested in seeing what you end up with :)

... wow. I just have to say that version of The World We Loved with the Jimmy Eat World lyrics is AMAZING.

Also, hi, Daasgrrl. :D

Hee, isn't it just? It's pretty much just like watching the movie, only compressed. Hi! :D

I had really forgotten what a tall, lanky kid RSL was at that time. The editing on that is just beautiful.
