I'm glad I read
franzeska's Dear Festividder letter before signups ended—otherwise I wouldn't have discovered that I knew what "Chee & Leaphorn Mysteries" meant.
These were three Masterpiece Mystery movies directed by Chris Eyre (who also made "Smoke Signals"), based on books by Tony Hillerman and starring many of my favorite Native American and First Nations actors, including Wes Studi, Adam Beach, Graham Greene and Tantoo Cardinal. I only knew the movies by their individual titles: "Skinwalkers," "Coyote Waits" and "A Thief of Time."
For people who aren't familiar with the source, which I assume is nearly everyone, all you need to know is that Jim Chee (Adam Beach) is a Navajo tribal police officer and medicine man-in-training who partners with the more experienced and secular Lt. Joe Leaphorn (Wes Studi) to solve crimes that often have a supernatural element to them. And that Leaphorn's wife, Emma, is great.
Title: Two is the loneliest number
Pairings: Jim Chee/Janet Pete, Jim Chee/Dr. Stone, Jim Chee/Joe Leaphorn/Emma Leaphorn
Music: "One" by Three Dog Night (edited)
Length: 2:00
Summary: Girlfriend turns out to be a bad match. Boyfriend turns out to be evil. Where's a guy to turn? His partner and his partner's wife, of course.
Content notes: Spoilers for "Skinwalkers."
Physical notes: None
A/N: Because
franzeska said she'd love an OT3 vid. If only Wes Studi would smile, JFC, or the three of them would show up in the same shot together more than once! Ha. I did the best I could. Originally posted here and here.

Lyrics:
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
Two can be as bad one
It's the loneliest number since the number one
No is the saddest experience you'll ever know
Yes, it's the saddest experience you'll ever know
'Cause one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
One is the loneliest number, whoa worse than two
It's just no good anymore since you went away
Now I spend my time just making rhymes of yesterday
One is the loneliest number
One is the loneliest number
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
One is the loneliest
One is the loneliest
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
Title: I Only Have Eyes For You
Pairings: Adam Beach/Wes Studi RPF
Music: Art Garfunkel
Length: 29 sec.
Summary: Because the DVD extra for "Skinwalkers" was too cute.
Content notes: None
Physical notes: None
A/N: I would have been happy if this had been the gift as well, but it was too short to qualify. So, a treat. I think it is super cute. Originally posted here and here. Animated hearts adapted from Ricardo Flores on YouTube.

Lyrics:
I only have eyes for you, dear
(The moon may be high, but I…)
Title: Don't Let It Bring You Down
Characters: Jim Chee, Joe Leaphorn, Emma Leaphorn, Ashie Pinto, Wilson Sam, Ruben Maze
Music: Sarah Fimm, covering Neil Young (cut and sped up)
Length: 2:57
Summary: Jim Chee's job as a tribal police officer isn't easy. But it gets a little better when he finds a partner in detective Joe Leaphorn.
Content notes: Murder crime scenes, depression, brief physical abuse of a child (:23-:24).
Physical notes: None
A/N: I'm sorry, Franzeska, this may be exactly what you don't like in a song. I hope that is/was balanced out by the attempt at a more serious character study that incorporates some of the supernatural mystery elements and a taste of scenery, since you said you were trying to recruit people into the fandom. Lyrics:
Old man lying by the side of the road
With the lorries rolling by
Blue moon sinking from the weight of the load
And the buildings scrape the sky
Cold wind ripping down the alley at dawn
And the morning paper flies
Dead man lying by the side of the road
With the daylight in his eyes
Don't let it bring you down
It's only castles burning
Find someone who's turning
And you will come around
[Instrumental]
Blind man running through the light of the night
With an answer in his hand
Come on down to the river of sight
And you can really understand
Red lights flashing through the window in the rain
Can you hear the sirens moan?
White cane lying in a gutter in the lane
When you're walking home alone
Don't let it bring you down
It's only castles burning
Find someone who's turning
And you will come around
[Instrumental]
Don't let it bring you down
It's only castles burning
Just find someone who's turning
And you will come around
For all of the above: Thank you to

Date: Feb. 14th, 2015 10:10 pm (UTC)Mediafire has let me download "Bring You Down," but it is refusing to let me access "Loneliest Number," insisting that I can just buy House, M.D. "Occam's Razor" instead, and wouldn't that be much nicer? (As if your vid and House, M.D. were in any way equivalent, pfft!)

Date: Feb. 14th, 2015 10:14 pm (UTC)Does THIS link work? http://www.mediafire.com/download/0xzqnmzed3q6knl/One+Is+the+Loneliest+bironic.mp4
(Mediafire seems to have tagged the file as copyrighted, so I wonder if that's part of the problem)

Date: Feb. 14th, 2015 10:29 pm (UTC)And I'm guessing the copyright flag is the problem; from what I can tell, the song is part of (written for?) the episode/album/whatever-it-is that Mediafire keeps trying to sell me. The presumed-not-fair-use thing has been such a trial this Festivids season, argh.

Date: Feb. 15th, 2015 01:08 am (UTC)Isn't the mediafire clipboard the WORST? Also the fact that this damned series doesn't actually have a name. It's usually referred to as "The Navajo Mysteries" on the PBS website and by the leads' names a lot of other places. Super unhelpful! Mediafire sometimes can't detect things in a zip file and will let you have a valid dl link (but this doesn't always work).
Anyway, yay, they were all awesome!
