Greetings from the other side of the country! I am in the Bay area for a little while for work and play. The work part is almost over. Tomorrow I look forward to exploring the city, where I have never been before.

Other places I had not been before: Tumblr. You can now find me at bironicwastaken.

Which of you do I know over there? Whom should I be following? My friending has been piecemeal.

So far it has gone like this:

Week 1: Reblogged something to overcome the "first post" hurdle. Found some fan friends to follow. Learned how to track tags.

Week 2: A couple of strangers liked my Marius fancasting post (Vampire Chronicles), proving the usefulness of meaningful tags. \o/ Learned how to customize my user page—and learned that you can't apply the same styles to the pages where you actually spend all your time, i.e. dashboard/tag pages/activity page.

Week 3: My David Hallberg/Svetlana Zakharova 'cozy ballet' post racked up 80 notes. \o/ A stranger started following me. Wow, that sounds much better in the social media world than it would in the real one.

I am still finding my groove regarding theme and frequency, but it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Although it is quite as much an opportunity to obsessively/compulsively refresh pages as I allow it to be.

.

Just before I left, I turned in a Club Vivid vid. \o/

I choose to remain mysterious about its subject, but I will say that it involves something like 85 sources (!), that I now recognize characters from Teen Wolf when they pop up on Tumblr, that I definitely drove to the Watertown library to get a DVD of Watchmen when I should have been packing for this trip, and that the final product includes Jeff Goldblum, Shahrukh Khan, Patrick Stewart and Alyson Hannigan. Oh, and Lee Pace as two different characters.

Looking forward to showing it to you in August and to seeing what others have done.

Next, need to decide whether it's feasible to attempt a Premiere. Am short on ideas and also hesitant to jump right back into production mode when it made the last 4 to 6 weeks so busy. Right now the only viable candidate is a slow John Sheppard vid.

I just followed you on Tumblr -- I'm tiptop-dog over there. :D

I'm not on it very often any more, though. Too much of a time suck for me. :-P

I am SO EXCITED TO SEE YOU, I CAN'T EVEN.

Send up a flare if you have time to kill, need help navigation, or want restaurant/activity suggestions.

YAY

Sending up a flare is an apt way of phrasing it! I finished reading the Fodor's and Lonely Planet guides on the flight over, and am finding it a bit overwhelming to try to figure out how to organize points of interest into an itinerary, plus which neighborhoods would be worth a walk solo vs. on a group tour.

I plan on asking advice of friend R. tomorrow when I arrive, but perhaps you have suggestions as well. Will email in the morning!

Yes, there is TONS to do here, it's easy to get overwhelmed. I just emailed you two possible itineraries for things I like to do as a local. I figure the tourist stuff is all covered in your books. (:

Personally, I don't go for group tours, but we have a lot of interesting and off-beat ones here -- there's one for practically every neighborhood, a lot of them thematic.
