just ironing out a few technical wrinkles

Five Festivids. Five fandoms. Three and a half months. One satisfied bironic. We'll see what the recipients think this weekend.

I've only managed to make this many Festivids once before, in 2012, but that entailed three for one fandom (Big Eden) and two for another (Dead Poets Society), so this feels like an even bigger accomplishment. Part of the key was getting started early, like October early, especially given what happened in RL soon after assignments went out, and not doing anything particularly ambitious.

That brings my seven-year Festivids total to 23 vids created and 7 received. Interesting.

Ha, my coworker R. thought [character] was [something they are not].

I wish I'd been able to make a vid for [source] for [person], or [other source] for [other person], or… but I didn't have song ideas, and in the former case didn't know how to get hold of the source, so here we are. I hope someone else makes them this round.

My not-really-formal policy has been to choose what I offer based on sources, not requesters, so, you know, I hope no hurt feelings on which vids I made as treats.

Although I'm happy with the vids I made, I'm disappointed to look at them as a group and realize [a pattern I don't like]. Well, except for [thing].

I've got to call it quits now; am behind on other tasks. (Have got to stop reading the news, too, for a little while, before I become incapable of functioning.) Good luck to those of you who are still working on treats, and hooray for everyone who's looking forward to watching the glut of new vids in less than three days!

Yeah, I think I lost mine when I migrated to DW. It was a nice little snowflake.

Anyway, I hope this post doesn't come off as too tone deaf to people given the rest of the world, but yeah, seriously, Festivids = some much-needed joy in an ever-darker time.

I can't speak for anyone else, of course, but I agree about the importance of finding ways to make joy even/especially in dark times--in fannish ways or otherwise.

It looks like I'll be able to turn in three this year, if everything goes according to plan.

I had ideas for a couple more, but my bronchitis has really wiped me out. Maybe I'll turn them around for Club Vivid?

I think I'll only be able to finish my assignment and maybe one treat if I'm lucky, which is too bad because I've been solidly turning in three vids per year for the past several years. I am doing my best, though, and would rather turn in one or two vids that I'm totally satisfied with than more vids that I'm just okay with.

I like your "things I can't say" segments. They are fun to read even though I don't know what you're talking about! :D

Sorry you didn't make as many vids as you tend to do usually, but I totally empathize with wanting to make fewer good creative works than more slightly dissatisfying ones.

Thanks. <3 It's partly a coping mechanism these days - whether good or bad, I'm not sure yet. (Distraction vs. necessary break, complement vs. replacement of activism...)

I've made three. Well, I've made four-ish, but I think I'm holding back the fourth because it's a treat in the same fandom as another treat I made, and if someone sees both I'll have no shot at anonymity whatsoever*. So I'll hold back the fourth, polish it for another month, and post it on its own.
