I have solved the problem of effort by not actually writing out why I like these vids; will do so in comments to the vids themselves, and to the dozen+ others I enjoyed. Also, I will not say whether any vids by me are on this list.

One thing I like about festivids is the opportunity for exposure to unfamiliar movies, TV shows, graphic novels etc. So it makes me sad when people talk about skimming the masterlist for fandoms they're familiar with and then stopping there. Yes, a few of the vids will feel inaccessible, and some will be spoilery, but lots more are made to be enticing and/or to provide all the context a viewer needs.

Preaching to the choir here, maybe.

The Noah vids were fun, too. I would have guessed you for the "Nephilim" one except it was made for you, whoops!

ETA: LOL, what was I thinking, I was all mixed up! That vid was not for you, that vid WAS by you. Nicely done. Obv. I really liked the Blazing Saddles one as well. Really unexpected choices, intriguing mix of comedy ("Your mouth's a gun" for his breath, I laughed out loud), bravery and heart.

Yeah, um... I wasn't going to say before the deadline, but I'm not sure how you thought "Nephilim" was for me unless you mixed it up with "Chess the Musical", which is eerily similar and also hilarious.

I'm glad you liked the Noah vids (which of course I made), and the Blazing Saddles vid.

I don't know the fandoms of any of your vids, and in spite of what you say, that does tend to influence whether I'm going to like a vid, but I was amused and creeped out by "Behind Blue Eyes", and the Dark City vid did make me want to check out the movie.

Me, too. I enjoy getting to have a wander among all these things I know nothing about. And it's not just the sources themselves; there are so many strategies for making a vid on display, too, it's fascinating. And, of course, I want the people who made something for the more obscure fandoms to get some eyeballs -- one of the points of a rare-fandom exchange, I always thought, was so that you could vid something obscure and still get it seen.
