I hate travel planning.

I love traveling—going to airports, hanging out in the terminal, flying, taking trains and subways (except the lugging-suitcases bit), going somewhere that isn't home, anticipating new sights and seeing friends or relatives again, and then having the time to relax and mentally recap on the way back—but this part, with the decisions about dates and flight times and fares and airlines and transit logistics, just kills me. I'm always nervous that I've somehow entered the wrong days in the booking form or have reversed the direction of the round-trip or that in another day I could've found a cheaper deal. Maybe, as I was just saying to [livejournal.com profile] michelle_nine, I'm so laid back for the physical part of traveling because all the worrying comes out beforehand. But damn, it took about eight hours over four days to settle on this flight to London, and that's after the weeks of deciding on a date range and months of considering whether to go to Copenhagen for a week or a weekend.

On the bright side, I'm going to England again in a few weeks! And, when I get the second half of the trip planned (gah), Denmark in the middle of it! Seeing [livejournal.com profile] catilinarian and [livejournal.com profile] maddy_harrigan for the first time in too long, and possibly [livejournal.com profile] catlily, and then [livejournal.com profile] kabale and [livejournal.com profile] lysa1 and [livejournal.com profile] mateo10 too!

Still, am all agitated from post-booking jitters. Time for an episode of Odyssey 5.

I have to admit that the Europe -> USA is a lot more hazzle than the CPH -> London and back things I'm used to. I'm trying to figure out something for California in the autumn and that's difficult!

I'm still thrilled you'll make it, though! :-D

Yeah. Flying + America = not fun. Unless you're talking unlimited budget.

But California, cool! I haven't been there since I was maybe 6 -- L.A. and Anaheim for Disneyland. Whereabouts are you going?

Yeah... I'm not in charge of the paying, at least. In fact, I'm still iffy about going because of that, but it's also hard to pass up on.

Anyway, we would be going to Santa Cruz to visit friends. I know I'd want to see San Fransisco if I get the chance when I'm in the area. I'm too queer to not want to ;-)

Hee. Lots of reasons to come to the U.S./Canada next year: Santa Cruz for friends, Con.txt in Maryland, the HP con in Toronto in the summer...

Totally unrelated to your post: Were you the one I re-uploaded the RSL singing stuff for semi-recently? And then we got into a discussion of whether or not 'Promising' was actually him or not? Because I just got the DVD and it is him. And if that wasn't you, then you don't care and have no idea what I'm on about. So I hope it was. XD

Really? It completely doesn't sound like him. I can hear him in the Jesus song but the other is so twangy. Are they the same recordings? It might be RSL in the movie and then Jeff Tweedy on the soundtrack. Or he might have an impressive range. Maybe I should go get it from interlibrary loan and see the miracle for myself. :)

(Yes, it was me.)

You should get it from interlibrary loan anyway. I thought it was a pretty decent movie. I'm glad I bought it. And the RSL interview in the special features makes me squee. God, he's cute.
