Okay, that was my favorite House/Wilson dream. (Remember a couple of months ago when I said I'd never had a dream with House in it, and then I started having a bunch?) Woke up at 7 a.m. to it and am not in the least bit sorry.

I'd post this to [livejournal.com profile] house_wilson except (a) I just posted one there last Friday and (b) I think I want to turn this into a fic, so you get the treat this time.

Stay with me, folks, I promise it's worth it. Just a moment of setup so you can "see" what I was seeing because the layout of House's apartment was different in the dream than it is on the show. The place must have been a split-ranch or something similar, because there was half a flight of stairs going up—don't ask me how that worked with House's leg—and then the hallway hooked around to the left, around two right-angle turns also to the left, and House's bedroom was at the end of the hallway. So from the perspective of the second part of the dream, his doorway was on our right with the bed visible in the middle of the room, the hall stretched away to the left, and the bathroom was straight ahead at the end of a short (few feet) extension of the hall. If that doesn't make sense, never mind.

Okay. Now:

On the landing at the top of the half-staircase in House's apartment, House and Wilson are standing locked in an embrace, their faces in each other's necks, rocking their shoulders slowly left-and-right (and I'm going Oh my God oh my God watching the show, It's House and Wilson getting together don't you dare make it turn out to be one of them and someone else, a woman or something). But it's not a trick, it's definitely them, and there's a burst of excitement/disbelief in my chest.

Cut to the bit of hallway outside House's bedroom and they're about to kiss when House's cane thumps (I'm still not sure whether he stumbles or his leg gives out or if he drops the cane or slams it into the carpet) and he pulls away and goes into the bedroom and curses and stands over the bed with his back to us, breathing hard, staring at the mattress. We can see him in his room and Wilson standing in the hall facing us, head lowered a touch, arms at his sides, looking down, and his brown eyes shift (so attractive!), and they both stand there, so clear it's what they both want but neither moving. House calls, "Can I get you anything?" meaning that Wilson'll be staying over but on the couch, and after a moment Wilson says, "...No..." (oh, his voice), eyes shifting again, and no, they're not gonna—oh, it hurts—they're hurting, and they both want it and won't...

House limps caneless into the hallway past Wilson (still standing there, looking forlorn; for all the women he's slept with, this is what matters) and into the bathroom without meeting his eyes.

Oh, God, you MUST turn this into a fic.

I would probably be doing that right now if I didn't already have four in the works (eep!). If it makes you go "Oh, God" *and* use all caps, it's got to be done. :)

Seriously -- I was so moved by what was going on, first with the thrill and then with the dawning horror, that I think I woke myself up; my heart was beating fast. If I could translate those two pulses of emotion into a fic, I think it'd really be worth the effort.

Definitely! I mean, I know those two emotions were explicit in your description of the dream, but I can practically FEEL already how they could be conveyed implicitly in those few, aching moments in a fic.

I don't mean to put any pressure, since you've already got scads to work on. But I just know you'd write this so well, and it deserves a good treatment.

Why is it that I find myself using words on LiveJournal that I'd never use in real life? Like "scads", for example, when do I ever say "scads"?

Heh, writing =/= speaking. I like scads just fine.

Aching, that's it exactly. And I know it's no pressure, don't worry.

How are you holding up? Drop me a line sometime.

*WIBBLE*

Okay, I was going through your "house -- misc" tag and found this.

*sniffle*

If you could write this as a fic, I would definitely read.

ACK - okay, NOW I want to see it on the show. Make it happen, would you?

:D But isn't it so much better in your imagination?

Coming back to this after writing the story, I remember how completely, meltingly hot Wilson's eyes were when they shifted. I wish I could have kept that, but being in his POV didn't allow for it. Alas.

But isn't it so much better in your imagination?

NO. Maybe. An answer would require me to see it in order to make a definitive comparison ;)

Oh, and you do realise I mem'd the fic, right? Because I did. It's really weird - I didn't even notice it wasn't a 'happy' ending. I just thought it was completely right for that moment and that they'd get around to having a better discussion later. All the important things were said and done :)

Heh. I'll... get right on that, then. Note to self: Write letter to Shore & co. explaining importance of shooting scene for S3 DVD extras.

I did not realize -- monitoring at work means no more ego-surfing -- but I could have guessed from your "OMGlove" (which for a second, after correctly reading it, I thought said "OM Glove") that you might be bookmarking it. Lovely. And I see what you mean about a happy ending not being as important as one that feels true. I admit I didn't even consider a happy ending for this one; House was going to turn his back, and that would be that for the time being. Maybe once Tritter's gone and he's pulling out of his pain he'll be able to return to this with Wilson. Wouldn't hold my breath, though.

"OM Glove"

I'm cheap. And/or in a very good mood. I laughed, and I was attempting to drink hot coffee too. I could sue, you know. Or Mary-Sue. Hmmm, I apparently also get random when I'm in a good mood.

Er... good fic. Yes. And speaking of Tritter being gone, I'm really hoping for some decent H/W in the upcoming eps which thankfully are SOON XD

Well, a very happy good mood to you! I am devilishly glad that my penchant for making people laugh just as they're taking a sip of a drink can be indulged trans-Pacifically via the Web. *g* *hands paper towel*

I'm really hoping for some decent H/W in the upcoming eps

Me too -- but of course, when has there been an episode where we couldn't derive some measure of H/W pleasure? Even "Where's Wilson?" "Sleeping Dogs Lie" had a few moments.

measure of H/W pleasure?

Firstly, that so belongs in a jingle.

Secondly "Where's Wilson?" would make one hell of a picture book. I see various House sets with just a edge of a lab coat or the green stripe of a tie visible...

An X-rated picture book?

(Glad you got a kick out of the rhyme too. Must keep in mind for that far-off day when someone does the House musical fic.)

An X-rated picture book?

Hmmm, I suppose that would make the last picture mostly of House's naked back and arse...

The fic would be all very nice - but I want that episode ;)

Do you mind? I'm trying to reply to your excessively lovely comment here but I keep being distracted for some reason XD

*g* Hey, you started it.

And I was picturing a page where there's just a few tufts of brown hair visible above the top of House's desk as he's sitting in his chair....
