Tiny vidding update

The good news: I laid out some clips for that Festivids idea last night and it made me have an emotion.

The bad news: On rechecking the recipient's request letter, she dislikes both that genre of music and that style of editing.

So: Plan B, methinks, even though it doesn't quite line up with the characters she asked for; I don't know what else to do.

I still want to make that other one, though. Probably it's best as a response to someone else's earlier request anyway.

How're everyone else's holiday season fanworks going?

Yes! I plan to, or at least plan to continue it after Festivids to see if it'll work beyond the little that's laid down so far. And since it's not for the exchange, I may as well say: It made me laugh. That's usually a good sign.

My Festivids assignment is going well, despite me being waylaid at various points by a request-adjacent idea.

I have a full timeline but the middle doesn't work, and the last few days I've been giving serious consideration to scrapping the timeline and starting over with a new song rather than working to try to fix it.

If you've got the time, that could be a good experiment. Are you feeling curious about how the other song might work, or frustrated that the first didn't gel as (easily as) hoped?

Probably some of both? It's not like Shiny New Idea is going to be easy and straightforward, it will involve some techniques I've never used before. But it's Shiny and New, so... :P

Week's been crazy anyway, I'm taking some time to stew on it before trying anything.

I…have not started clipping for my Festivid. I have a song! And as much of a concept as I ever do! My goal is to finish clipping by Sunday night so I can start actually vidding sometime next week.

Yuletide is done, but I'm poking at an idea for another treat and now sure how to make it work, which is frustrating. Then again, it's a treat, so it isn't crucial to anything except my own sense of achievement.

I -- did this once. Not the vid version, but the fic version, where someone won a story in a charity auction and their entire list of requests and styles were just so far off the scope of what I could or felt comfortable writing that I ultimately just hit the "fuck it" button, wrote whatever, and prayed for forgiveness instead of permission. Oops.

I got a song and an idea pretty quick, but it requires a whole lot of pre-clipping and careful comparing of shots and it... sure is a lot of work. I'm nearly done clipping my source and then I'll start actually putting them on a timeline and hoping they make any sense?
