Henry Jenkins, fandom culture and new media scholar extraordinaire, will be holding a two-day conference at MIT in mid-November called Futures of Entertainment, featuring some impressive speakers and a fascinating bunch of panels. Here's Jenkins' blog entry for those who haven't already seen it. The conference is free to anyone, though they recommend pre-registration. Am thinking about going (even though it'd mean two trips to Boston and one to New Hampshire within five weeks). Opinions?
Relatedly, I don't suppose anyone is planning on going to the NEPCA conference in Nashua at the end of this month?
