So I’ve been reading some more Sheppard/McKay fic when I can, and I’ve now seen three or four episodes of the show. I actually like it--apparently the further removed a Stargate TV show is from my darling movie, the better chance it has to win me over. Also I have to say, while Rodney’s fun and Sheppard is growing on me and Sheppard/McKay will probably be my SGA OTP when I get to know the canon better, Zelenka is adorable. At least, he’s been adorable in the ten seconds of screen time I’ve seen him in. With the glasses and accent and hair and endearing mix of irritation and adoration when it comes to Rodney. Where does one go for decent McKay/Zelenka fic? Is there any decent McKay/Zelenka fic?

Also, yesterday was the first time I noticed that I pass a Sheppard St. on the way to my mom’s house. (It does not cross any road with an appropriate name.)

(Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] tigertrapped, I meant to include some Spooks in this post for you but I want to do it justice, and so, need to be awake.)

[livejournal.com profile] bibliotech has managed to get me interested in Stargate: Atlantis. I think she's the unofficial Keeper Of All Things SGA. At least I know she mentions it a lot, and she's got lots of handy links on her sidebar. She seldom posts friends-only, so she won't mind if you poke around or pester her for fic recs.

Oh, splendid, thank you. (And, hi!) I shall scout it out. What do you think of SGA? You have such strong opinions sometimes and such fun ways of putting things always that I'm curious what you have to say about it. I really know very little but expect to come upon a few seasons this weekend for further viewing.

I'm way behind in viewing, since I haven't been able to get the DVDs from Netflix (my queue is massive at this point) so I just catch reruns and things when I can, but I really enjoy it. I have a different set of standards for science fiction shows because it's not going to be "real" (in the way something like House has to be plausible), and I'm okay with things if the dialog is sometimes cheesy or trite. It's like Harrison Ford said. "George, you can write this shit, but you sure can't say it".

I joked recently that fanfic has warped my ability to watch the show, though. Every episode I wait for it to turn into John/Rodney softcore.

The cheesy dialogue was what turned me off immediately to SG-1, and I never tried SGA until I started reading the fic on a whim. But like someone else described it, SGA has turned out to be pretty good "popcorn sci fi" and yes, the John/Rodney is so present, even just in the few episodes I've seen. It's also a little addictive.

And, thank you for the pointer over to [livejournal.com profile] bibliotech. I've been browsing her del.icio.us account, which has a dedicated mckay/zelenka tag.

Hee! I knew you'd get hooked!

Zelenka is absolutely adorable: I love watching him and Rodney coming up with ideas together. My OTP will always be John/Rodney, though.
