I went missing the past few days because I've been sick, and not in the "hand me some tissues and a couple of Tylenol" sort of way but in the feverish, voiceless, head-explodey, "hand me another box of tissues and three kinds of drugs and oh my God, my skin hurts" sort of way. I am feeling much better today, though, if still not healthy. I now seem to be able to sit up and open both eyes with the light on and think and type for several minutes at a time, so I expect to go back to work for a few hours tomorrow, since I haven't been in since Thursday morning. Which, incidentally, makes this weekend the longest vacation I've had since July, and the only vacation I've had since New Year's, which just sort of figures.
Went to the doctor today for some tests; unfortunately, while he's marvelous and knowledgeable and will no doubt have a definitive diagnosis by Wednesday, he will probably be unable to tell me whether this was my body's twisted way of telling me I needed to take a break. Because that's what I've done for five days: absolutely nothing. The most I managed to do was watch a little TV (one day I will write about how much I love "The Return Part I" and "The Tao of Rodney," and how absolutely ludicrous a way that was for [spoiler] to [spoiler] in "Sunday," but I will say now that I watched Stargate for the first time since becoming an SGA fan and laughed at the throwaway line where a heckler at Jackson's lecture asks whether the pyramids were built by men from Atlantis) and read some fic and nap a lot, and also clutch my head while cursing the evolutionary processes that led to the development of sinuses.
So. Just as an FYI, post-House post not looking likely tomorrow.
Annnnnd... back to a dim room to listen to the baseball game.

No, no joint pain, but yes to the tiredness, and the first couple of days the skin all down the back of my body including neck, back and arms was super-sensitive and sore, which happens sometimes when I'm sick. Weird. I'm not ready to chalk this up to something chronic yet, like yours seems to be. :( Being sick sucks. Being sick for a long time really sucks. I hope your doctor is able to figure out what you've got and that you're able to do what you need to get better.
How did you get to see "Sunday" already? (I've already been spoiled for the "what" and "who" of that episode, but not the "how.")
Oh, oops. I got it the same way I caught up on the rest of the season's episodes. I'd tell you but I'd have to kill you. Or you could email me.
Ditto on the being spoiled on 2 out of 3. It was an interestingly structured episode, pretty darn good overall, and very sad after the Thing, but the how of it was just absolutely ludicrous. There's no way they couldn't have come up with something else. You'll see, and you'll agree.
Can't think of any great post-"Tao of Rodney" fics offhand. Most of the ones I read that had spoilers for that ep, I read before I'd seen any episodes at all, and honestly don't remember what they were. But, hm. You must have read "Bell Curve, or Ladies Night at the Boom Boom Room" by Pru, right? I know it's sort of a classic of the fandom. I just read it Mon-Tues and am totally in love with it.

Date: May. 10th, 2007 03:22 pm (UTC)Sorry about that! I tried to reply via email last night, but I have no idea whether it worked. I'm assuming not, obviously, or I wouldn't be commenting here. *g*

Whew! I thought I might have missed it on TV. SciFi loves to screw with their schedules (although the TiVo can generally be counted on to keep up with that).
I'd love to hear (in depth) what you thought of "Tao of Rodney" (or any other SGA episode, actually). So if you ever have time and energy to post, you're guaranteed at least one reader.

Date: May. 9th, 2007 11:44 pm (UTC)I'm feeling almost entirely like myself today, thanks, and I'm starting on some antibiotics to try to shake off the lingering sinus infection. TMI perhaps. The break was great, except for being-sick part; I was so relaxed going back in yesterday! Of course, by 11 a.m. my leg was jouncing like Wilson's on speed, and by today I was ready to punch someone in the face again. It was kind of funny to watch it progress (regress) like that.

Date: May. 9th, 2007 11:47 pm (UTC)It was exhausting like a flu, but I think it was/is a nasty sinus infection mutated from seasonal allergies. Have now got some meds to try to kick it. Back to work yesterday and already missing the ability to lie in bed all day watching TV and reading fic, alas.
Thanks again!
