John and Rodney: Mac and PC in those TV commercials. Y/N?

* * *

Things I like: Minor ice storms that leave the branches and bushes encased in frozen droplets the morning after.

Things I dislike: People who don't bother to brush off their cars properly so when they hit Mach 3 on the highway, shards of thick, icy snow fly off their roofs, tumble through the air and hit other people's windshields.

I took some pictures while my car defrosted, but they didn't come out spectacularly; the sun wasn't high enough yet. Still:

Exhausted today; kept nearly nodding off all afternoon at my desk. May be last weekend catching up with me; may be this work-week taking its toll. Had to forego a dinner I was looking forward to with friends tonight because of it. Need to get up early tomorrow to run errands (including post office for to be mailing the rest of the holiday cards/packages) before my friend arrives. A little reading and then bedtime, I think.

The lower two are really very good. The cones on the evergreen are rather festive, and I love the hint of sun on those frozen red buds on the other tree.

I think everyone's been having a real beast of a week.

That time of year, right? Well, only a few more weeks and this project will be finished and friends will be back home (not that I don't want to see them!) and there will be time to sleep and read again.

I'm glad you like those pictures. That last tree is indeed quite photogenic. My camera is fairly old (for a digital camera) and tends to make everything flat and blurry, unfortunately. Without the sun shining off the ice, it was hard to capture how nice everything looked. The shots from the St. Patrick's Day storm (http://bironic.livejournal.com/70610.html) this year came out much better.

Ooh, the St. Pat's storm photos are gorgeous. We rarely get ice storms here (thank goodness, because the South is in no way prepared to deal with that) but sometimes we get a little freezing rain on the smoky plum trees in our front yard. That's always beautiful, because the twigs are a deep purple.

We often get a little snow in early February, when the first brave daffodils have poked their noses up, and it's always striking to see flowers in the snow.

Either I'm in your brain, or you're in mine. A few hours ago I watched the "Happy Together" Mac/PC music video someone made, and immediately emailed someone with "I just realised that Mac and PC are John and Rodney."

Only Rodney tells people he's a linux box.

Heh. Well, they totally are; it's only natural for independent observers to reach the same conclusion.

Hee, Mac/PC.

The pictures are lovely. I really can't stand ice - too scary - but it's beautiful to look at.

Hope you get a very good night's sleep and tomorrow are possibly up for letting me know what you think of my SGA draft? Maybe? I'm not done yet so no detailed beta needed, just an overall impression sprinkled as necessary with the occasional "Are you high?!? Rodney's a physicist not a chemist!" insight.

: )

I didn't forget about you -- just haven't had the time. Just popped over for a quick look, and now must finish prep. Catch you later!

I love the two photos on the right side, particularly the lower one. The light's glorious. I do miss ice storms.

Hee! I hadn't thought of that, but you're right. (Do you know any of Mitchell and Webb's - aka Mac and PC's - other work? They have a sketch comedy show, and I know they made a movie last year, but I'm not sure whether it ever made it over to the States.) Also, the adverts are bizarrely slashy in themselves, especially the one where PC threatens to send Mac to the "naughty step".

They are totally slashy. It just didn't occur to me until yesterday, when a claymation version came on TV, that they're also John- and Rodney-like. There's a South Park spoof on YouTube that makes them look even more like them, esp. Mac/John with the spiky hair. Did you see that fic that was making the rounds a few months ago that was ... Mac/Vista dom/sub, I think, after the commercial with the practically-BDSM Vista bodyguard?

I don't know any of their other stuff, other than that the guy who plays Mac was in Galaxy Quest. Sounds like fun.

Glad you like the pictures! I hadn't even realized the sun was shining through the branches in that last one until I uploaded it. Too busy trying to keep my footing and hold the camera steady, I guess.

Hey, email me sometime about your/our holiday plans.

Ooh. If you ever remember the title or link, I'd love to read it.
