31 Days, 31 Memories - Day 11
Jan. 10th, 2006 11:11 pm11. College
A week or two into my freshman year at school, I was walking down the street after buying a book at Barnes and Noble when I heard someone calling, "Miss!" I turned around to find a man in his thirties jogging towards me. Black hair, skin a trifle darker than a late-summer New England tan would produce, seemed non-threatening enough, though I get nervous at any sudden contact, whether with an earnest-looking stranger or an unexpected encounter with a friend, so my heart was pounding.
"Excuse me," he said. "I saw you in the bookstore and followed you out here. Is your name -- ?" (I've forgotten the name itself, but it wasn't mine.)
I shook my head.
"Did you go to school in Austria?"
I shook my head again. "No..."
"Oh, because you look exactly like a woman I knew, and I thought you were her."
I guess we chit-chatted for a little while longer there on the sidewalk before he went back inside and I continued on to the dorm, though I don't know what about or for how long.
It's a strange thing to learn there's at least one other person out there who looks like you enough that an acquaintance might confuse you. I asked myself on the walk back: Is there a woman in Austria wandering around with my face?

I had a boyfriend, L. He was very tall, 1.92 metres (I don't know what that is in feet and inches) and had waist-long blond hair. Very blond. And a sweet face with freckles and a sweet smell. The way his hair waved from side to side when he walked was unique and I would recognise it to this day.
I hope he is happy.

Hm, very blond and tall and freckled-sweet... has that influenced your affinity for Draco at all?

Others include my father (for a somewhat Lucius-y personality at times and white hair till he was 25), Morten (had no respect for anyone and that white hair as well - he sadly died in a car-crash when he was 19), R. (my personal bully at school, I hated him but he was good-looking as hell and I had a bit of a crush on him despite hating him).
I think you can see where all that leads *G* No wonder I like the brat.

he sadly died in a car-crash when he was 19
That's horrible! I'm so sorry.
