SGA finale.

I don't think I've ever watched a series that didn't have an arc leading up to the series finale. It's strange. No emotional buildup. Well, I got that last week, and I was satisfied. Let's see what happens here.

Woolsey tells John he's needed on Earth, and John goes. It's mildly disappointing that this John isn't fanon John, who'll die before abandoning Pegasus, but at the same time I can't help but be touched by his dedication to saving his first home.

So Ronon and Teyla abandon their galaxy to help the Earthers without a second thought? After Ronon swore not to give up until every last Wraith was dead and Teyla has, you know, a husband and baby and decimated people? And nobody asks about the problems associated with removing the city from Pegasus while the Wraith are still around?

Sigh. It's not like they could fix their entire show in its last hour.

I like how blatantly this has become the John/Todd show. "When I'm with you, I feel like I have a live grenade in my pocket"? Seriously? "You do know how to talk to me, John Sheppard."

Also, why can't the makeup department make Todd look like the same person from arc to arc? Tonight he's looking raggedy in the hair and especially human-esque in the face.

Kavanagh was funny there, and only mildly obnoxious in the same way Rodney was in the beginning of the series. Making his faces as Rodney pushed him aside. Looks like he's learned how best to deal with these people.

Bleh, Carson. Go away! I thought I was rid of you for good at long last! And since when are you comfortable with *or* competent at using the chair?

And then Sheppard recapitulates Independence Day. Trying to fly his plane and get the darts. Losing his flying buddy. Flying a nuke into space and onto the mother ship.

I like that he called his plane "baby." Always did want to see how he handles "real" flight.

Ronon! Gah. Bastards. Since when do drones carry knives?

And they just leave the body?

Oh, John's *face* when he finds out.

And *that's* why you don't leave your men behind. Yay, he isn't dead.

Heh. Keller's "...Okay." is kind of priceless.

Okay, Apollo 13 rip-off, again, zzz.

Right, and now Ronon and Teyla are stuck in the Milky Way. Nice job.

Whee, invented retroactive relationship for Ronon. In the sense of not-whee at all. Just like the magical retroactive ZPMs. No, really, we've had them since last year and didn't say anything. Just like Rodney's wormhole-drive! Okay, no, that one I believed. Rodney has lots of ingenious projects lying around in various states of completion.

So, did John kill Todd? I vote no. They love being enemies too much. Maybe Todd'll end up in a nice glass cage at the SGC like in "Vegas," and then he can cameo in whatever travesties they're cooking up for the SGA straight-to-DVD movies.

Then again, I can completely see John smirking at Todd's laugh/last comment/etc., pulling out his handgun, shooting, and walking out without looking back.

But I hope he didn't.

I'd say the cut to John and Teyla in frame together after Ronon/Amelia and Rodney/Jennifer suggests John/Teyla (yay), except Teyla's got that family nobody mentioned.

Agh. Agh. Nausea. That's the ending? Really? Agh.

Pretty much 100% agree! Esp. about, uh, hi, I think Ronon and Teyla have some ties to Pegasus? Maybe? Also about John's face when he heard that Ronon was dead, oh his little face.

He does shocked grief with the best of them. Oh, John. It was more moving for whatever reason than Rodney's rough cry when Ronon went down.

For me, I think it's because we all know that John is just not going to handle that well. It's like watching a little child being told that his mom is dead or something. He is not good at feelings!

And we all learned from Joe Mallozzi's profound blogging after "Remnants" that it all comes down to John's mom.

Okay, that was funnier in my head. How about the image from face_of_joe (http://community.livejournal.com/face_of_joe/39597.html) about feelings being scary?

Ugh. I am massively disappointed with this as a series finale. Everything was just wrong (except for a few McShep moments regarding John's suicidal tendencies). I hated that they ended up stuck on Earth, and that the last shot had Rodney and Keller off by themselves, away from the rest of the team.

Fan writers have been doing better for this show for most of this season, and I think they'll continue to do so. I'd like to just erase this "ending" from my mind.

It's easy! Pretend they ended on "Vegas." Or "The Shrine." Or [insert episode of your choice here]. Or that, five minutes after this episode ended, Rodney ignored Keller for five years because he had to figure out how to build ZPMs so he could fly everyone back to Pegasus before Ronon and Teyla killed someone from homesickness-induced anxiety and John could come up with another suicide mission out of sheer bureaucratic boredom.

I like your solution.

five minutes after this episode ended, Rodney ignored Keller for five years because he had to figure out how to build ZPMs so he could fly everyone back to Pegasus

He totally would.

It's not that I dislike Keller, but I just don't see any chemistry between her and Rodney. Plus, she keeps trying to change him, which annoys the hell out of me. I think she had more potential with Ronon, although Amelia seems like a decent possibility for him. (Too bad they didn't develop that at all prior to this episode, however.)

I agree on all counts. Keller had potential back when she had that episode with Teyla, and then in "Trio," but shoving her together with Rodney after dropping the Ronon arc, WHICH BY CONTRAST MADE SENSE, was just, no. And continued to be no.

AHAHAHA, I LOVE YOU.

I felt like throughout half of this episode, John was sporting his best "I CAN HAS MARTYRDOM NAO?" face.

Also, once John and Rodney find out about Prop 8, they're gonna be so pissed at Carson for parking in San Francisco.

POP QUIZ: Name one subtle thing that occurred in this episode.

...

p.s. Mr. N's comment at Amelia's interruption = priceless.

I have to admit I was very happy to see Todd again, and that they connected the Vegas episode to this one. That was well done.

But SG:A guys, if you're going to steal from two other movies, add your own twist of originality! This was just ... blatant.

Mr. N's comment at Amelia's interruption = priceless.

LOL! I didn't even know! It was like I was talking to one of you guys! I just about fell out of my chair. *g*

Hee!

that they connected the Vegas episode to this one. That was well done.

I guess, if the whole point of "Vegas" hadn't been to set up the "oh no, the Wraith told the other Wraith how to get to Earth!" plot. *shrug* But I will never say no to more Todd.

I was only half-watching it. I think it was a much better show that way. You can go 'wheeee, explosions!' and ignore everything else.

Whew, the retroactive romance hasn't like been around at all, right? I was worried I had just missed something from an earlier ep or something.

Also, I totally lol'd when John was like, "Welcome to Earth" to Ronon, because hey, have we ALREADY forgotten Outcast? You know, where Ronon visited Earth already?

That I can kind of handwave, because wasn't Ronon basically stuck in the SGC? I'm fuzzy on the details, but I thought he showed up, saved everyone, and then went back to Atlantis.

But yeah, this show fails so hard at continuity.

My husband pointed out the same thing, that Ronon's been to Earth a bunch of times. C'mon, Ronon's been to Sheppard's dad's house and Rodney's sister's house.

I took it to be less of a "hey this is Earth" and more of a "This is where you're stuck" kind of thing. Kitti, my partner-in-crime, is Canadian. Every time something happens in the US that's particularly sucky I say to him "Welcome to America" so my opinion may be skewed.

It felt kind of "Do something!" as bellowed down from the producers' box. Only nobody knew what they were supposed to do? I don't know if that makes sense. Your post says it way better.

The sad thing is, it sounds like the producers knew what they were doing. While the viewing audience scratches its head.

Naw, that was TOTALLY Star Wars. Old School style blowing up the death star with TIE fighters everywhere.

I mentioned to the other guy that it was really anticlimactic and not at all like a series ender (he didn't watch it because he's only halfway through S3), and he pointed out that they probably did that "And they lived ever after" ending because they know it'll be back in movies.

They could've done a cliffhanger to prepare for the movie, too. Dunno. The happy ending lacked a satisfying buildup for me. :(

Star Wars = true! He only needed a long shot of flying along crevices in the surface of the hive ship with fighters on his tail.

I like how blatantly this has become the John/Todd show.

I know, right? In the SGA movie, their first encounter will begin with Todd's line: "Is that a live grenade in your pocket, John Sheppard, or are you just happy to see me?"

It reaches new levels of absurdity to think how the writers created scenes like that without realizing what John and Todd are saying to each other.
