Heads up, Housefic writers: awwsugah has been reposting other people's stories on her MySpace and passing them off as her own. She's got stuff by daasgrrl, cryptictac, maineac, isagel, soundship, evila_elf, genagirl, jaryn_, elynittria, sam_storyteller, and others. (Not me, though. I guess my stuff isn't good enough. Heh.) I also asked Cryptictac if she remembers the dates working out like that, because I'm very curious.

Sorry I didn't get back to you on that. My inbox kinda exploded with all the replies to the post and I didn't read through them all. D= And I know this is all best to let blow over now, but I do want to answer your question.

A majority of the stuff stolen seemed to take place around June/July 2006. She is using Katrina as an excuse for what happened (which happened an entire YEAR before the plagiarism took place, so... wtf? Besides, the entire passive approach - "It happened around the time..." instead of "I stole the fics..."). I went back and had a look at my FO post I used to have up; she'd left a comment to be added on June 15, 2006, and plagiarised my fic on July 4th, 2006. So, about two weeks after adding me. So, all this talk she's given of stealing stuff before she joined the House fandom is a load of bullshit. She was stealing stuff while friending people at the same time. A whole year after Katrina.

Ah ha. I had a feeling the dates would work out like that, with some overlap. I just didn't buy that she would have felt guilty and quit plagiarizing when she moved to LJ without also removing the copied stories. And, wow, I didn't even think about how the hurricane happened almost a year beforehand.

The passive explanation did irk, as did many things about her apologies, not to mention some people's responses, both on the wank and the supportive ends of the spectrum. ITA with your post about how plagiarism is not a tragic mistake out of the person's control that begs for a second chance. Which isn't to say complete and lasting condemnation is the solution either. And that is all aside from the issue of the breaches of friendship and trust committed in the process.
