Ah ha. I had a feeling the dates would work out like that, with some overlap. I just didn't buy that she would have felt guilty and quit plagiarizing when she moved to LJ without also removing the copied stories. And, wow, I didn't even think about how the hurricane happened almost a year beforehand.

The passive explanation did irk, as did many things about her apologies, not to mention some people's responses, both on the wank and the supportive ends of the spectrum. ITA with your post about how plagiarism is not a tragic mistake out of the person's control that begs for a second chance. Which isn't to say complete and lasting condemnation is the solution either. And that is all aside from the issue of the breaches of friendship and trust committed in the process.

Thanks for getting back to me! I figured you were overwhelmed with all the comments to your post, and I appreciate it.
